HEAT OF THE MOMENT
by Rohan Shir on Nov 07, 2014 01:43 PM

It must have happened in the heat of the moment. But he was told twice to complete his 200. Never the less all is forgotten and every thing is all right.

Desparate cricketer for the sake of records

This is a clear example of How serious was SRT on setting records. As a gentleman cricketer he should have made a statement in the same book that he never felt bad about the incident and was very happy to contribute 194 runs to the team. This kind of statement would have made him and his team mates proud and the tag he was carrying as a selfish player could have been erased to some extent.

yes. He deserves the title "Mr. selfish " .After all even though it is 200 or 300 or 400 at the end ot will be termed as century only..

Digging past and questioning equally veteran's intention does not project Sachin in a good light.
He must learn to digest some 'mishaps' in his life

Pls leave it to them

When individuals are together for years, they are more like a family, and there is going to be ups & downs. It is all about the state of mind at that instance of time. What Sachin wrote is that he was very upset at that point of time, not justifying it was right or wrong. It happens with each one of us and we realized afterwards that we were wrong with our reaction or point of view.
I do not see any reason for all of us to do post mortem of something where we have simply no business.

It doesn't matter who was right or wrong but Tendulkar has expressed his side quite honestly without fear what people could think of him. It is extremely difficult for us to comprehend the kind of situation these guys were on field scoring 194 and then returning back ! After-all they too are human beings and who doesn't want to complete a double century ? Dravid may have taken the call since he want to maximize the chances of winning the test and secondly he was not a regular captain then - doing a captaincy for one of the test puts him more pressure on winning. He did what was right, Tendulkar's disappointment is also quite natural, but the biggest takeaway from this incident is the way both these gentlemen handled it brilliantly afterwards and win the test. Don't forget that Tendulkar even given ball and succeed to take couple of wickets in the following inning of Pakistan !

Double Century !
by Prabhakar KRISHNA on Nov 07, 2014 10:55 AM  | Hide replies

It was not the quest for double century but Rahul going back on own words. When Rahul had decided that he will declare with 15 overs remaining WHATEVER be the score then what was the need to declare with 16 overs remaining !?

Look @ 2004 archive you all will know. Tend scored ~20 from 31 ball whereas Yuvaraj scored 34 from 30.... Who paced innings well?

Pk, Pls rewind the match, you get the answer... how many overs were wasted and how many messages were passed on to him to accelerate to complete 200, then decide to comment on Dravid...

I am a great fan of Tendulkar, but can't justify the personal interest. Rahul Dravid was correct here. Team win for India matters. Ramesh Powar was sent multiple times to convey the message. Batsman can enjoy playing cricket. But it should be for team win. His stand is not correct.

Team strategy changes depending on situation. Rahul Dravid through Ramesh Pawar that was conveyed multiple times. Just arguing for argument won't help anybody. Team's win matters than personal milestones. I am still a great fan of Sachin's cricket.

This exposes politics of Sourav Ganguly as well.

Politics of Sourav Ganguly also expressed when he went to Tendulkar and said he was not aware of the decision. The decision was taken together and Sourav was on the gallery signalling declaration. This is like adding oil to fire.

May be Sourav spoiled the minds of Tendulkar by saying he was not aware of the situation. We saw him in the gallery signalling the team decision. Tendulkar got enough time to score the double. What is the guarantee he would have lasted for another 6 runs? I think if Yuvraj was not out 1 more overs would have been played. At the end result matters. India won the match

Ganguly would have a said this just to prevent Sachin from getting angry with him. But the fact remains that
both Ganguly and Dravid have always put the team's cause first.
