You can't blame Dravid
by Aiyer Raju on Nov 08, 2014 10:50 AM  | Hide replies

If I remember right, Sachin was stranded on 194 for a long long time. With his 200 on mind Sachin was more concerned achieving it than the team's interests. Since time and tide cannot wait for anybody, Dravid had to move on. Sachin should have achieved it in the subsequent matches to prove a point. Well. Sachin, unfortunately Cricket is a team game unlike Chess.

That's incorrect for several reasons. But above all the captain cannot deceive his own team members and batsman. It's like a backstab by Dravid. Whole team and supporters where shocked at that decision and there was enough time in the match.

I can remember what Rahul did at that time is utter non-sense. As Sachin rightly said it is not 4th day it is 2nd day of the test and as he is further said his batting is also for teams cause .In test cricket every ball has to play with merit. one ball is enough to cost a players career and test match. No body knows better than Sachin how to play a test match

This clearly shows Sachins obsession for personal records like centuries and double centuries. A 100 or 200 is just a number and is no different from a 94 or 194. The teams victory is more important.

@shubasrikrishna... You can continue to be biased and criticize Sachin, but Dravid decision backstabbed his own player. More over dravid didn't keep up to his own plan and words.

Bored to death with Sachin

Really tired of reading and listening to Sachin's selfish stories. He bored us to death in the last couple of years of his career and now he is back to boring us a couple of years after his career.
He was great at one time, but lost all his greatness towards the end because of his huge selfishness.

Very Important

Well both are gentlemen and great ambassadors of Indian cricket. To make things clear Sachin is quoting similar situation in Aus series where Rahul was not as patriotic when his runs mattered to him. If you put one person in the shoes of legends like Bradman, from the start of ones career, you will feel that pressure to get more records and so forth to keep everyones expectations of him up there, and you can't help him for that, he himself has to work hard for those runs. My feeling is, whoever is trying to achieve something in life or wants to be portrayed in some way in public for good cause too, is propelled by atleast little bit ego which is part and parcel of all human beings I guess. Rahul liked limelight too I guess, to show people that he is all about character, patriotism, bravery etc and doesn't care who he is dealing with, a legend or not I don't care. I remember watching agonizingly those ODI's when he will come in and the scoring rate going down drastically, when situation demanded otherwise. He was a very slow scoring batsman and thereby dragged down the entire team with him making it difficult for whoever is coming after him to build a good total. He tried I suppose, but it was very torturous to watch him bat. On the other hand he was a legend for Test cricket, which commanded someone with technique to build watchful innings, it was a natural thing for him to do. I love both Sachin and Rahul, and between our beloved natio need more patriots in all walks of life

Playing it my way

If every one in the Indian team would want his way and play with their own ideas and make history for themselves rather than focusing on the country objective as a whole then we would fail. Wisdom is still to set in on the team. Rahul has taken a brave decision. Even Rahul's innings was cut short due to decisions taken by the captain. He stood brave and supported the team's decision.

that's incorrect. WHen a captain decides on a plan with his team members, he should keep him fully informed with clear cut instructions.
