Suram Verma
#Gawaskar as BCCI Chief
by Suram Verma on Mar 27, 2014 06:02 PM

SC has taken a very wise decision to appoint Gawaskar as BCCI chief. I think ultimately SC should have the powers to appoint people to the highest posts in the country which are not many in numbers but at least it will stop political influence and right man for right job will be selected. It will not only improve the working/performance but also put a control in corruption also.
Well done SC bench. Now Gawaskar should work hard in restoring the image/prestige/value of the cricket in the country.

Sunny Gavaskar is better Than SUNNY
by Narendra Desai on Mar 27, 2014 05:49 PM

At last A cricketer is being nominated to look after cricket department. That's good news. Or else I thought That Sunny Gavaskar will look after Agriculture Ministery, Sunny Leone after Cricket read BCCI & Ex- BCCI chairman may look after Bollywood.
Its a pity that India had a BCCI chairman who hadn't even represented his mohallah cricket.
Thanks Supreme Court for THROWING LIGHT.

How can SC take decision who is to come to power and who is not to come to power? In that case, why SC could not have also asked MMS to resign for the sake of smooth moving in so many scam cases?!! Meaning ,in future will SC decide who is to rule the country?!! It is not fair decision. People may feel it may be a kind of gambling!! It is not good not only to Cricket but also whole nation in future. SC should think about this and Guilty should be punished only after probe is over.

If judiciary can remove the correction, Why not yes? After all, SC only said to give the rule of Cricket to some one who knows cricket not to business man or politician who makes money and position from cricket. Let me rimind that many decisions even taken by SC will always be beneficial to nation. Its a decision which should have taken much earlier.

So you want N Srinivasan to be replaced by Sharad Pawar or Dalmiya.
Gavaskar is just a name picked up by supreme court. It can be Kapil or any one who has done a lot for Indian cricket. Definately not likes of Sharad Pawar or Dalmiya

SC judgement for Gavaskar to take over BCCI
by Ashoke Ghosh on Mar 27, 2014 05:25 PM  | Hide replies

Mr. Ajay seems to be very intelligent. Aggressive as well. Aggression is good should it not cross the line. Had Gavaskar been not a great bats man of his caliber he certainly would have been great grounds man. President of BCCI does not mean he is so great , neither Mr Srini is. Many of our chief ministers do not fall in the category of an average people yet they are. Gavaskar by name itself is such a great mind that one should have but little doubt for what ever capacity he would work. One should understand the caliber of the people for what ever he achieved. More over while SC had its judgement it must have put great thoughts in it. Not only Gavaskar and BCCI, I wud like to see there is no Sharad Power in Maharashtra cricket board instead its Mr. Vengsarkar only and only Mr. Vengsarkar and alike. The same is true for all the sporting body of India , they sud and must be run by only honest and great players. We are run by Money and power shamefully not by merit , let at least by good grace of SC we start with BCCI . Hope many such follow soon.

U r perfectly right. Its the question of right qualification. If a player like Gavaskar who has 40 odd years of cricketing knowledge how can we expect that he does not have admin knowledge for running a cricket body .If Srini has that we accept, how come Gavaskar does not. He may not be as successful as a great batsman he is but surely and if not surely, expected he would match many good in the rank. SC does expect the same and hence its opinion/ decision. If SC had not given such verdict one might be sure that Mr. Mayappan wud have been replacing him either or Mrs Srini ? And we have seen such many thing in the past. Bihar is the burning example of that. i wud rather say that SC cud have anticipated of such happening that one replaces Srini is no one but his puppet and hence naming Gavaskar is the most intelligent step. Thanks to SC that at least it cared for the good of the country unlike many in the Power.
