Conflict of interests
by bappaditya gupta on Mar 27, 2014 10:00 PM  | Hide replies

Mr. Gavaskar has to forego his television intersts, his contract as BCCI commentator & his association with IMG ( who are the franchise of Pujara, Tewari & other cricketers ) before taking up the offer.

One rule for SMG and another for Srini!! And a third one for SC which has done nothing to deliver justice for tens of thousands of cases are pending for years on end. First let them put their house in order.

Court can ask a person to be removed from the post but cannot appoint someone of its choice to be in its place. Is nt this favoritism by the court itself

Gavaskar appointed as interim chief iof BCCI
by P S on Mar 27, 2014 09:36 PM  | Hide replies

Supreme Court is the highest court of the country but they can not force their decision of appointing a person they decide without proper consent of the members of BCCI. They are correct in asking Srinivasan to vacate his post till the time probe is completed to avoid his influence and pressure if in power. If other members of BCCI want, they can challenge the decision of appointment of Gavaskar as an interim chief of BCCI

Gavaskar is selfish and undeserving
by joshua gurion on Mar 27, 2014 09:26 PM  | Hide replies

Gavaskar is extremely selfish person. BCCI had successfully gagged him and Ravi shastri using the lure of contracts, commentaries etc, so he never hit out at any of the BCCI irregularities which is there for the whole world to see.
Gavaskar didnt speak against sourabh ganguly during the latters slump season since his own son Rohan was playing for Bengal.
Has Gavaskar ever opened his mouth (or thru his writings) ever criticised BCCI's irregularities like conflict of interest of N. SRinivasan in owning CSK and BCCI chief, spot fixing in IPL, dubious money coming in IPL, betting by franchise owners etc etc?? Never. He prefers to play it safe. ONe would prefer Mohinder Amarnath who at least tried to sack Dhoni after Dhoni lost 2 important overseas assignment. But poor mohinder was himself shown the door by N. Srinivasan who didnt want Dhoni to go since it would affect the brand value of CSK

It is Sharad Pawar who want only Maharashtrian cricketer as head of BCCI who can remain under his control and do whatever he say. Both Gavaskar and Shastri are very selfish and unrealiable people who are only interested in their self interest and nothing else.

AT LAST SC MADE THE RIGHT CALL FOR BRINGING CLEAN IMMAGE OF BCCI
by subrata banerjee on Mar 27, 2014 08:54 PM

ONE CAN NOT EXPECT BETTER CALL WHEN WE FIND SC HAS ADVISED THE GREAT SUNIL GAVASKAR, THE CRICKET LEGEND OF THE WORLD TO TAKE CHARGE THE POST OF PRESIDENT OF BCCI. TILL DATE, THESE DALMIAS, PAWARS,SRINIS ETC HAD BEEN SPOILING THE VERY SPIRIT OF CRICKET AND SLOWLY BUT STEADILY MARCHING TOWARDS BETTING, SPOT FIXING AND TOOK THE GAME LIKE CRIKET AS A PLACE OF GAMBLE AND EARN IN A NASTY WAY. IF GAVASKAR BECOMES THE PRESIDENT, HE WILL DEFINITELY BRING THE GOOD ATMOSPHERE OF CRICKET WHICH HAS BEEN LAGGING FOR DECADES TOGETHER. WE THE ORDINARY OBSERVED EXTREME CORRUPTION ON THE PART OF BCCI AND BUSINESSMEN, POLITICIANS ETC REMAINED BENEFICIAL.

By suggesting an individual for a job, the SC is making a mockery of its own role and position by abrogating power to itself. In fact, the nation's highest court is undermining the judicial system itself by needlessly stepping into the shoes of governance. Hope next government will rectify this issue.

So you want N Srinivasan to be replaced by Sharad Pawar or Dalmiya.
Gavaskar is just a name picked up by supreme court. It can be Kapil or any one who has done a lot for Indian cricket. Definately not likes of Sharad Pawar or Dalmiya

With clowns like MMS and FoniaGandii around, it is needed by SC to take extraordinary measures. In western democracy, it would not be needed.

Put him in jail like Sahara Roy if he does not step down by tomorrow morning.

Call back Dhoni if he is board member of any of Srinivasan's companies.Do not appoint Kohli or Raina captain in his absence because they are managed by Dhoni's friend/partner's trust kriti_sports,these all are of the same gang.

Mr. Gavaskar shud listen to his conscience!
by Indranath Lahiri on Mar 27, 2014 07:33 PM

In past we observed that played a very passive role when scandals raked the Indian cricket.Men like Gavaskar are icons why shud they show docility just because they donot want to miss the favour from BCCI.Gavaskars, Viswanaths, Kapildevs, Amarnaths they have brought so much laurels to this country why shud they cow down before men like Srini, yes Mohinder Amarnath was the only one who spoke courageously & paid the price but he was undeterred hats off to him!Congrats to Gavaskar on the proposal of Supreme Court, but Mr. Gavaskar for heavens'sake please clean up this great game dont just be a passive diplomat.

Saif ..sry to disagree with you..I welcome the news of proposing SG for the position and removing Srini ...but all sportsman dot'n make good managers or Administrator..some of them cant even run their house , family..Playing on ground is diff and Administration is diff...very few can handle both very well...One can ride good on horse doesn't mean can fight well in battle..

SUPREME Court - Supreme Games!
by Anand sodo on Mar 27, 2014 06:56 PM

Indian OLYMPICS was De-Membered from the International Olympics! - Because of CORRUPT head of the Indian Association, The Supreme Court NEVER Appointed or Recommended any NAME!
Similarly - The Indian Hockey was BANNED from International games - for having a Corrupt head - The supreme court NEVER DECLARED any Name to head the Hockey federation!
WHY so today - in the case of Cricket? - The only Answer that can be REACHED - The JUDGES of our SUPREME Court do not KNOW the NAMES of HOCKEY players or OLYMPIC players in India!... whom they could have Recommended or ASKED to be APPOINTED!...Our Judges are GOOD at PLAYING Cricket!...more than in understanding their own JOB - Giving JUDGEMENTS!

SC VERDICT MUST PAVE WAY FOR TRANSFORMATION OF BCCI
by damodaran mohan on Mar 27, 2014 06:39 PM  | Hide replies

While full SC verdict is yet to be given but by and large its observations directionally is welcome. For the pvt. cosy BCCI club it was waiting to happen one day given that the country is changing. After Mudgal committee report what did Srini or BCCI do ? Notning. Absolutely nothing. They think they can get away with anything and ecverything.”… as things stand it is crystal clear there is no way either CSK or RR could escape the reaches of by-laws of IPL!...” ,this blogger had blogged in this very message board after M-report but BCCI/Srini couldn’t care less ! More: from that blog:“…….until the SC verdict but the overall moral aspect cannot be ignored altogether ! It is for Srini to take the personal call now….”.But does Srini or for that matter his 29 other colleagues of the cosy club packed with top-notch politicians do really care about moral issue ? While we would like to see SC verdict pave way for complete transformation in working of BCCI ushering in transparency however it is felt SC cannot dictate names for interim head that too somebody under heavy obligation of BCCI/SRINI !SC must lay down the framework that could help BCCI make a complete break from past and make a new beginning of an accountable sports body coming under realm of RTI.
