Shami looks exhausted and there is still the 20-20 to come. Why on earth is Ishwar Pandey not tired , impossible to fathom. Rayadu is not international middle order material. Either one of Rahane and Rayadu can play not both.

Gavaskar is right. He only voiced the sentiments of many cricket lovers all over India. For example, if I had expressed the same opinion before, definitely someone (especially Jagaval Sreenath) would have posed the question -"How much cricket have you played, to be eligible of criticizing Indian Captains strategy?"

The culprit is the Chennai IPL franchise. How can he hold the post of BCCI and then have a private francise, and most of the players seem to be from his francise. Is the media blind to all this? Is the political class im-potent when it comes to calling shots in BCCI? Do we the people of this country need to be just the spectators of all this mess? Can any social group not file PIL against these pratcices in teh supreme court?

there is too much politics at the cost of india team . first greats like sachin ,saurav , dravid , harbajan etc were
forced to quit cricket.now new players like pujara , pandey , v arron , binny r kept waiting. this BCCI XI only care to play their guys even if team india loses to everyone.its turning blind eye to arrogant team mgt

Gavaskar is right, since this match was of no consequence, both Pujara & Pandey should have been played. These 2, specially Pandey has been a bench sitter even in NZ, is he in the tour party for carrying drinks/messages/gloves,bats etc? There seems to be groupism in the team,Pujara,Pandey,Manoj Tiwari, etc are made to suffer, seems Fletcher the coach has no powers,it is Dhoni & his crony Kohli with his remote control, conducting everything.

He was one of the most successful captain who lead india to win in Champions trophy in Australia without ant celebrity players.Kohli is a member of Dhoni club who will do only what the tainted captain tell him to.It is now no secret that Dhnoi is under cloud & board is keeping him under wrap to protect his misdeeds

He had the world cup winning squad by him. L. Siva was at his best. Mohinder, Kapil Dev, Srikanth.... Has Mr SG single-handedly demolish any opposition like Kapil has done both with the ball and bat. He was a defensive player who would wear out the opposition in test matches.

Kathir calling a batsman who scored 12 test centuries against pace attack of west indies is nothing short of insanity.Kapil was a blind hitter who lost more games by his indiscretion than winning.Gavaskar saved so many matches for us & has an average of 54 in second inning which is exactly 10 more than our Bharat Ratna.

Sunil G pontificates. When he was at the helm he only brough Marati Brahmins in the team, however they sucked. We all know TE Sreenivasan could play fast bowlers better than Sunil himself. He flew in a lazy, slow Shastri after dropping TE who scored 36 in his first game against Hadlee Sunil G cares about himself more than his team, and he is there to fill his own belly.

He like the other Marati brahmin Sachin played for records. That is why Kapil was voted as the player of the century ahead of these selfish coffer fillers

Why? To make up for what Marati mafia did to T.A. Sekhar, the fastest bowler India has ever produced.

Sekar made his test debut in the 5th test of that 6 test series a match. Despite being wicket less, Srikkanth who also played in that test believes Sekar bowled well. “He was quick and was clearly the fastest bowler on view.” And you may not have said that of any Indian bowler till Sekar came on the scene.

In the final test of that series (one that is also known for Ravi Shastri’s century as an opener- he replaced Srikkanth!!) and one that turned out to be the last for Sekar, Dilip Vengsarkar dropped 3catches in the slips of TA Sekar’s bowling as Mudassar, Mohsin and Javed Miandad made merry at Sekar’s cost. If those three catches had been taken at slip, Sekar’s career may have taken a different turn and one for the good, for he was rated by all as the fastest bowler seen from India until then. Unfortunately as fate would have it, Sekar was never to bowl again in tests

You are partially right Kathir in what you have stated, but in this repect what Gavaskar has stated is right. I would like to add another fact,Gavaskar in 1982 led the Indian team to England, and in the team were 2 Bombay players Ghulam Parker, & Suru Nayak, the first an opener & the other an all rounder, whose name no one had heard. Both failed miserably, though Parker was excellent in the field and saved 25-30 runs on his own per innings.

Patrnizing caste and region over talent at National level. Sunil G was good at that. Now he is pontificating to people with less memory. Ravi Shastri would never have played test cricket if not for Gavaskar.

Sure.. everything counts..Like Sunil Gavaskars 36 in 60 overs in 1975 World Cup.

Indians did not learn to win from Gavaskar; they learned not to lose. Kapil is the only cricketer who taught them how to win by playing positively. Inspite of the records of Gavaskar and Tendulkar they could not get selected as the best Indian player of the century...

Most of Marati Brahmin players were not athletic enough that they could not have played any other sport and been half as successful.

A sleeping beauty like Rohit Sharma, who fails in 10 matches if he performs in one, gets a chance while a player of the caliber of Pujara does have a place in the team?? How come Rahane is better than Pujara? I agree with Gavaskar. I think Dhoni has spoiled the whole culture of decency and his deputy is also doing the same.

Dhoni had spoilt a talent Irfan Pathan by making him jump places from top to bottom the whole time and never letting him gain confidence. Also, Ravindra Jadeja is wasted at place 7 instead of making him play at 3 or 4th place.

I think this IPL Chennai owner has taken the team to gutters. How is this conflict of interest allowed to carry on? What are the politicians dooing? What is the media doing, for that matter?
