Pujara is a must at number 4 spot in ODIs for India, Totally agree with Sunil Gavaskar's expert comments also a quicker bowler than bhuwaneshwar kumar should be tried..

In the last Asia cup,Dhoni was the captain and India didn't make it to the finals. They lost 2-1 in the ODIs to Pakistan at home ,when Dhoni was the captain and not to forget the ODI losses to SA & NZ under Dhoni.
But I do agree India requires Dhoni the batsman & WK,as he is the best we have now.

By the way, India has done nothing but lose in ODI and Test series over last two yrs or so, barring home series...

Oh you have posted in a wrong column..! The discussion is with the non inclusion of players like pujara and pandey in playing eleven. I think those players are not wicket keeper nor a sub. captain

i am sure peoples will not understand. they are always blame dhoni for whatever go wrong. dhoni is blame for selection field setting batting fielding everything.

Buddy, team selection is done by the coach & captain and Dhoni is powerful enough to get his chosen ones into the team and field setting is done by the captain. If these go wrong, obviously the blame lies squarely on the skipper.

So late for your comments, sunil. I expected an earlier posting in favor of Dhoni. In fact importance of dhoni is indeed there, but only as a keeper batsman and not for Cap. If for cap then it required only to loose as in Eng,Aus,SA and NZL tour.

I totally agree with Gavaskar. Dhoni had the knack of sidelining any talent which would pose a threat for him in the future, the best example is Irfan Pathan, who was subjected to so many changes in slots from top to bottom throughout his career, ultimately making him lose his confidence as a batsman. Another example is Ravidra Jadeja, does a person who scores three triple centuries have no talent. Why in the name of batsmen and all rounders he is discriminated. I think Ravindra Jadeja is much more confident than any of the openers in the present lot and he can score at least a 50 everytime he goes to bat, can be a Sehwag when he is in mood, plays confidently and with care. Another great talent wasted is Pujara by the present lot for their own places in the team. What has Rohit Sharma got better than Pujara? Rohit Sharma is as unfit as a tailender in the team, performs in 1 if he fails in 10. So, I think the team is doomed with the present type politics in the team with Virat Kohli also toeing in with such things.

For trial Puajara and Pandey could have been tried. But regarding Rohit you should be aware that he was and Dhawan along with Kohli were the main person for India s win last through year. Even Mickel clarke was out of form 1.5 years. Afridi was out of form and we take every hurry decisions immdtly. We need power players in world cup squad if you compare with other teams. Only Rahane can be fit in team. NO Pujara, no Raydu , no Karthik can be fitted in ODI team. Bring back Yuvraj and Raina along with Irfan pathan.....

U r forgetting one crucial fact that Rohit performed well on the flat tracks of the subcontinent and the WC is played in Aus & NZ,where he recently struggled to get bat to ball against a avg Kiwi attack. When the ball starts bouncing above knee level guys like Rohit & Raina start bouncing. As regards to Yuvi,he was a gr8 ODI player before that dreaded disease hit him,now he is a pale shadow of his former self.
Gavaskar toyed with the BCCI during his playing days, giving up Captaincy and taking it back as per his whims and fancies. He dropped Kapil Dev from the team on 'disciplinary' grounds when he himself as Captain once led out the team against Australia in protest. He also batted for 60 overs for 36 runs in an ODI in England. What moral right has he got to talk about others? Pujara is a Test player. He should be groomed as the next Dravid. There are others who can play slam bang more effectively. Pandey had to be given a chance.

radha you are correct. but one thing about pujara. simply dont call him like dravid. dravid was very slow when he make start of cricket. peoples used to sleep when dravid come to bat.

i think gavaskar is right when he says that pujara, pandey being kept on bench.. what is the use of taking them all the way to bangladesh ?? may be BCCI wants them to be groomed as future IPL stars !!

Gavaskar as a captain had given chance to one suru nayak in west indies. There after if i remember correctly, nayak was dropped from mumbai team.
Fiest BCCI have to change the coach than think of other players becoz coach is not capable to coaching a team like india. bring someone like DAV Wahtmore, Gary Krishtan or S fleming
this useless gavaskar wanted kohli as the captain of india. bcci made kohli as the captain of india. now what is his problem. mr sunil gavaskar ask your sun kohli or rohit sharma why they are not playing ipanday or poojara. his real problem is there is only few players from his maharashtra and there is only one player from his community.
mr. gavaskar is absolutely right.. the same thing is going on for years after years in indian cricket.. no captain has guts to experiment with reserve players . why india is suffering now..just bcos ex captains have never done experiment with reserve bench..for example those captains never tried or had those guts..to play at least one young player beside dravid, sachin or laxman ..so that those young players can learn somthing from seniors while batting with them(seniors)..even in 5 test match series .. not in single match young player got chance..exception: when a senior injured or in very few matches at home. any body can answer to indian fan.. why?
