Dhoni as a captain for Team India
by on Mar 01, 2014 10:00 AM

It is not fair to change the captaincy at this level. Earlier captains have also failed to perform abroad. Dhoni is a very good captain cool customer. He handled the situation very nicely. If other players not performing well, what Dhoni can do. The authorities should seriously think about the opening batsman. Pujara and Srikar Dhavan should open the Innings and Rohit should bat down the order. Under any circumstances, Dhoni should be continued as Captain of Indian Team for some more years. Kohli can be continued as Vice Captain in order to gain some more experience.

Terribly incorrect facts!!
by Story editor on Mar 01, 2014 02:02 AM

The writer does not have his facts right...he does not know what kind of a spinner Kumble was! Ganguly did exceedingly well as captain with the bat between 2000-04. Only 2005 was a bad year. Dravid was also a pretty decent captain.

Seriously low levels of writing, who is this guy?

It's a question of players not captaincy

Much ado is being made of India's defeats on foreign soils given that we have an inexperienced team bereft of players like Tendulkar and Rahul Dravidi and Laxman in their primes. It's not at all a pointer to captaincy termed obnoxious by some former captains who themselves have a lower overall record that is nowhere near Dhoni in terms of successes. Also quite amused to read Mohinder Amarnath's comments that we need an aggressive captain like Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi. Amarnath's should have known that Pataudi was holding the biggest string of losses on foreign soils as Captain which has been overtaken by the current losses. Wh

Mansur Ali Khan was a over-rated captain. Those were the days when Kings & princes were more honoured for their love for cricket. Mansur Ali Khan was a good fielder , good aggressive batsman . His performance is more appreciated since he had only one eye. He reached the highest level of the game in spite of this limitation. He was not at all a good captain. His whims & fancies while executing bowling changes coasted us dearly. Mohinder was a good courageous player but he is a very poor critic like Bishan singh Bedi. India is blessed with good captains like Kapil Dev , Azar , Ganguli & Now Dhoni in the same order as mentioned in this script.

Dhoni
by PADMANABHAN IK on Feb 28, 2014 09:09 AM

The recent tour debacle occurred by the well planned strategy of some of key-players to oust Dhoni. The strategical two-missed catches while playing with NZ was indicator to such a scheme. Finally, the purpose is achieved.

Dhoni is ruining the Indian team by favouring mediocre players
by moturi prabhakar srinivas on Feb 28, 2014 12:50 AM  | Hide replies

How come every one fails to look into the fact that each and every time India loses abroad, it loses with a team that performed well on Indian soil. I think Virat Kohli, Pujara and rahane are the batsman equipped to bat in all conditions. I dont know why Dhoni being Indias best captain keeps on playing Rohith, Dhawan, Raina and Jadeja. These players can only perform in the subcontinent. Preferential treatment will bring Dhoni's downfall as a captain.

Captain - Vice Captain Combination
by prasad sun on Feb 27, 2014 08:03 PM  | Hide replies

I feel that Ganguly-Dravid combination as captain and vice captain was a good one. After that captain looked all alone. I feel in every series Vice captain should be declared since this would go long way in benefitting the team.

Who is this BMohapatra? He wrote from his own idea and little knowledge. He knows nothing about cricket and allowed to write here. What a shame. What is the procedure to write here. Understood that any XYZ will be allowed here. It also seems that Rdff is lowering its own level.

Right u r. These writers in the guise of cricket experts hardly understand the game. Otherwise on one side he talks about Dhoni's terrific record in the one-dayers and yet talks about changing the captain for Tests. But he doesn't remember that now onwards emphasis is more on the World Cup. How then so called experts call for Dhoni's sacking. Strange are the ways, we have been fooled by such writers.
