At the end of the year 2014 MSD has announced his retirement from Test cricket. Why did he wait for the two Tests in Australia leaving Virat with the first and the last Tests? He is good captain for the limited overs cricket. All the best for the world cup.
It is only once in an era you will have a man like Dhoni. Incredibly humble, gracious and respectful to his seniors like, Kumble,Ganguly, Tendulkar , Rahul Dravid and Lakshman and yet he led them with dignity. One can debate his wins or losses but no one can take away his basic human decency which is a natural trait of our Indians coming from small towns. They are down to earth, hard working and aspire for great heights
India cricket history has ever seen, hats off for his decision. Not like others who want to be in team just for records. I wish you India will world cup in-sha-Allah.
Dhoni has taken the right step. It can be conceded that Dhoni chose to continue being the test captain to end his captaincy with a win or on a high. The win is a distant dream in Australia with the kind of team he is leading. A draw is not a bad result either. He has fought hardly to save the test.
There is no doubt he will do well in the ODI and T20. We can expect the best unlike the tests.

I agree Australia is a far better side than India both in bowling and in tail batting. The odds are they will lose the next match in Sydney no matter who the captain is. The only difference is that Kohli might pick up better players because Dhoni's loyalty lies with CSK. The current crop of cricketers is useless with the exception of Rahane, Kohli and Vijay on overseas conditions.
It is too bad to criticize Dhoni negatively. He has proved that he is the best captain of India and most successful too. He has elevated in Tests India, to the TOP while it was never achieved by any other Captain. May be it is not good that he proclaimed in the middle of the tour.

Is it, really? Tell me one player of his caliber who can replace him. Now don't expect that India will start winning away matches.
