may be you should say 'hand it over from flirterer'. Guys have been thankless, memory is short - and this is totally adharma to discuss/debate even.
dhoni the captain was not at all missed. his pans should know that he did not chase even 200 runs in 50 overs against 8 ranked waste indies. dhoni the captain would go for a draw and the team would lose by atleast 150 runs
Dhoni is a veteran and has captained quite a few test matches for India.
Virat on the other hand had nothing to loose. Thats what helped him to take the aggressive approach. But Virat needs to realize that at the end of the day India lost the game and thats what will be recorded in statistics. In the long run nobody cares how aggressive a team or a player is. To me thats a short sighted vision.
Gavaskar made a very good point about captain trying to draw the match. For me its a tactical decision. It certainly plays in players mind when they compete in the next game of the series.
Dhoni as captain has achieved a lot more than any other captain has did for India.. We can assume Kholi as captain in 2 years and for next worldcup.. It was very interesting test match, both vijay and Kholi played very well, i had some expectation from Rahane who is another class batsmen.. Raina can replace rohit for next matches!

u are the real cricket fan. we deserved this much.. no doubt..
Great Job Gavaskar. We should learn from the Past and keep our Integrity as a team. Don't go by Chappell's work. Whole world is jealous on success made by India in World Cricket and exceptional talent in Indian Youngsters. Let's keep the team motivated to perform well..

Ian an Greg Chappells are disruptors. We have to go by our own analyses. Virat Kohli seems to be a better player and captain than Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Yet Dhoni is the best wicket keeper batsmen in India, apart from Robin Uthappa. The latter is good as an opener in any form of cricket. He is a good player of pace and has excellent foot-work against spin.

you are Mr.Gavaskar. I also feel India should have opted to play for draw after Rahane was out because in the line up of last four,India were missing Ashwin and Bhuvi who could bat. Now India already one down and the next three tests will be difficult.

I have no complaints on his batting but his captaincy.First, the team selection was horribly wrong. Ashwin should have played in place of Shami or Aaron. Kohli will take some time to understand the bowling differences between T20 and tests. How can he go into a test match where the pitch is not likely to favour fast bowlers with three pacers and one rookie spinner. There was no variation in Karn's bowling,no googlies. Then, where is Kohli's judgement?

Kohli's captaincy vulnerabilities were clearly visible in Asia Cup and also IPL. Having selected Karn, Kohli was not able to guide him on how to bowl when the pitch was assisting spinners.

Team selection was bad, agreed, but how could you blame the captain, if a spinner could not bowl Wrong-uns.. A captain can only make strategic bowling changes.. Bowling has to be done by the bowler, not the captain..

This is indeed the most valid point. Rahane is jinxed when playing under pressure. We should look for some other talented batsman in that position, some one like Unmukth Chand or any new challenger.

Oh no,Rahane has been playing very well in almost all the innings recently and also under pressure. Just that the umpire made a blunder.
