Gavaskar: Master of creating controversies
by Subramanian Rajappa on Dec 16, 2014 11:55 AM

At the first place there is no debate as to who is the captain: It is Dhoni, there is nothing wrong to prepare a back up plan in the form of Virat and that does not mean there is a debate, may be personally Gavaskar is not benefitted from Dhoni being the captain.

Discussion of captain's change
by srirama chandra rao on Dec 16, 2014 11:41 AM

this time it will not happen as Dhoni is named skikpper for the series by selectors. May be for next series they may consider Virat's captaincy. But i have a feeling as long as Dhoni is there in test cricket/one day cricket, they may not be willing to change Dhoni unless he withdraws himself

Worst Decision to Select Karan in Playing XI
by santosh joshi on Dec 16, 2014 10:45 AM  | Hide replies

Is not it sound rubbish that kohli is a good captain. their Off Spinner Take 7 wickets was not it a worst decision to keep out Ashwin from playing XI having more varieties then Lyon. Hw can we so easily forgot kohli's performance in England. if Dhoni did not backe d him so much then?

They are not talking about captaincy form, rather captain approach. Dhoni never had any interest or skills to survive 5 days mental battle.

He is one of the best Indian captain in ODI (worst in Test).

If you look into form, then by now Dhoni should be dropped from test matches, forget his captaincy. He is total failure in oversease in test matches, look at his records, where as Kohli despite of bad form in recent England tours, he manages decent average.

And about Karn in playing 11, yes he should not be there, we missed a good opprtunity to win that match. Ashwin at least 10 times better batsman than any of our tail enders.

We missed Bhuvi to as he can bat and bowl much better than rest of our bowlers.

Kohli is Not Matured Enough to Lead Indian Cricket Team
by santosh joshi on Dec 16, 2014 10:37 AM  | Hide replies

I am Fully agree with Mr. Gavaskar. After Rohit Got out kohli should also think about a draw. He still need Dhoni's mentorship a lot.

Who are they to survive for those 20 odd overs as all are tail excepting Saha. He should have supported kOHLLI for few overs so that Kohli could have won the match. Only when Saha is out Kohli played that risky shot

a leader never erases the past
by Ganapathy Venkatraman on Dec 16, 2014 08:06 AM  | Hide replies

Just the quality of aggression doesn't make one a leader. Has anyone questioned Kohli's silence in acknowledging his captain's role in mentoring him, laying confidence in him and so on? Has he opened his mouth anywhere paying his gratitude to Dhoni? Have you seen Steven Smith saying how humbly he is going to continue the rein? How soon have we forgotten how badly Kohli was performing in England and how much confidence did Dhoni lay in him which made him a come back, as a batsman? All what we are doing is adharma...We guys have to pay our tributes to Dhoni for providing the entertainment value to his abilities, taking India to dizzy heights in the international arena.. rather than trying to dump him when he is still shining...

Ganapathy this is Kali yuga not dwapara yuga- dharma etc all that.. What happened to Dhoni's dharma when he was made India Cements VP and then CSK Captain where he selected all his CSK mates into the national squad!

What happened to his dharma when his bheesmacharya ( srinivasan) openly and brazenly cooked a snook at the highest dharmasthan - the Supreme Court, what happened to Dhoni's dharma when he described Meiyappan as an enthusiast!

Oh protector of dharma Ganapathy venkatraman- pray what happened to all this dharmic principles? why only selective application to Kohli?

if 'Conflict of interest' is the epicenter of questioning MS' deeds, then anything happening under the banner of BCCI has to be called so...Shastri, being the office bearer of BCCI, a commentator at the same time, allowing Sachin to continue until he decides to hang the boot, etc. I am not taking sides on MS nor accepting him to be part of the storm blowing on BCCI. But what MS had done so far to Indian Cricket has been forgotten in a moment...that's the hurting stuff here.

Don't get foxed
by Ganapathy Venkatraman on Dec 16, 2014 07:58 AM

This is what you call 'get carried away'. Hare Baba! A leader has to win not just press for a win. Also, leadership qualities are acquired over a period, not just suddenly bloom out of the blue. How many times have we seen Dhoni lead from the front? And our memory is so quick to erase that? It is highly deplorable. Sunny should have insisted that let's be on the ground until the WC at least since it is like we ourselves becoming a spoiled brat and leave the best behind. But I am sure, Dhoni is a breaveheart, nothing would deter him. You will flip flop after a while, I am sure.
