Kohli the King!
by Mike Teflon on Dec 16, 2014 12:22 PM  | Hide replies

Enough with the loser Dhoni, bring on board Kohli, who almost pulled a coup on a difficult 5th day Adelaide pitch.

Let there be thorough debate.. I suppose Dhoni should stand down voluntarily in the interest of Indian Cricket, which of course he will never do.. Sack him now!

Kohli lacking in captaincy skills
by wcpak on Dec 15, 2014 10:03 PM  | Hide replies

just giving over exuberant statements like we will play positive or he will go by his instincts doesn't work. That he has to gain a couple of more years experience in international cricket to become a captain was proved in Asia Cup and also last year in IPL where a star studded team of RCK was in the last two or three rank from the bottom.

Bro, the demand is for Virat as captain, in LONGER VERSION, not in the other formats in which Dhoni is doing a good enough job..

Dhoni is running outta ideas and is getting too defensive in Test Cricket. Kohli has been playing International cricket for several years now and had captaincy stints several times.

He was captain of the World cup winning team of U-19s..

If Dhoni, wants to continue as captain of India, he should perform not accumulate one series loss after another..

The selectors gotta be a bunch of morons, if they persist with Dhoni eternally..

I completely agree with you.The Aussies are playing mind games. As soon as Rahane was out, India should have played safe. This was the only pitch where India could have won but team selection was not right. Now,going to Brisbane they are already one down.

Don't brush it off as an Aussie suggestion. We can think too.. With no regard to Aussies, we would do well to sack Dhoni as captain in Tests..

It need not be Virat, give anyone else who can lead India to Victory overseas, else blood in Virat.. A defensive, matchFixing, underperforming Dhoni is the last thing Indian Cricket needs..

Australians will praise Kohli - mind games
by on Dec 15, 2014 09:47 AM  | Hide replies

The net result is we have lost the test when we have the option of draw in test matches. Nothing wrong in trying for victory till the first four wickets. After the wicket of Rahanae, knowing that our lower order batting is very weak in the absence of Ashwin and Bhuvi, we should have played it safe and gone for a draw. That itself would have been an achievement.Australians will keep praising Kohli with their mind games because they have won the test.

Dhoni must go..
by Mike Teflon on Dec 15, 2014 03:06 AM  | Hide replies

Whether one likes it or not, the defensive minded Dhoni must go in the longer version. Ian Chappell's remarks not withstanding, Dhoni's captaincy drew flak all over the world with 5 consecutive series losses in test cricket.

Under Virat we lost the first test, but it was a great fightback and solid reply to arrogant aussies.. Right time to blood in Virat..

Viraat has a long way to go still! His batting was superb but his tactics questionable! Fighting for a win when you have enough wickets is fine but not changing the tactics even when you are 7 wickets down is foolishness and not bravery! Besides even as a captain he has tendency to get into brawls whereas he should be the one calming down the players. HOpefully he will learn but the learning should not come at the cost of India losing tests because of his learning!

Unfortunately Kohli was not matured enough to realise that Saha is no Dhoni and also the weakness of the last four batsmen in the absence of Ashwin,Bhuvi etc.

Mr. Kumar, aggression is a virtue not a weakness at least on the field of play.. They shake it off with customary hand shakes at the end of the day..

Why should we be different??

Secondly in the last session, when the ball is turning square, quite sharply and biting on you, how do you think defensive game play would earn us a draw..

Rohit was butchered, playing from the crease.. Saha was unwise agreed, but the odds were stacked against India, after 2 front line batsmen were swallowed by umpires..

Kohli did a commendable job in bringing India close to OZ.. Dhoni would have simply buckled up and embarrassed India again..

Wake up guys.. Open your eyes, Don't go by reputation, past records and favoritism..

Do not rush
by M Raj on Dec 15, 2014 01:53 AM  | Hide replies

I am of the opinion that Ian Chappel's words should not be taken seriously. Remeber that once he told that Tendulkar has to see his face about retirement, everyone knows what happened afterwards, it is too early for Kohli and he needs to be little bit polished after that he will be fit. Also rememer that we are not australia to think in its own ways.

BCCI needs to be blamed for this loss
by mick j on Dec 14, 2014 10:34 PM

Two of india's top 6 batsman (Dhawan & Rahane) were given out wrongly by the umpires. BCCI should have opted for DRS and this could have been avoided. DRS has shortcomings but atleast it will be equal for both sides and will result in a fair game.

one should not forget that the Indian team could not take 20 wickets in the first test. Australia have declared in both the innings. The pitch was flat too. We should not be over excited with the Indian team's fight back. Regarding Proud Virat Kohli's captaincy,He have not done anything special as captain. he is over aggressive which led to a lost, they would have settled for a draw.

DROP ROHIT AND PLAY ASHWIN-JADEJA PLUS 3 PACERS
by damodaran mohan on Dec 14, 2014 06:38 PM  | Hide replies

(contd.)In fact the Aus famed pace attack looked no threat at all to Indians with Lyon taking 12 out of 20 wickets and should be an eye opener for India from this experience to bank on its strength of spin bowling to win in supposed pacy wickets conditions in Aus! Thus unless Indian spinners are used extensively and made to learn to adapt themselves in overseas conditions it will be very difficult for India to win on the strengths of their pacers who compare poorly to their overseas counterparts. So what next with Brisbane supposed to be a tougher venue! India must not panic as the young side looks quite promising and play regular spinner Ashwin in place of Karan Sharma and jadeja in place of Rohit who at no.6 at best can give 30-40 runs, no more! Jadeja and Ashwin together can give those 30-40 runs with availability of one extra bowler !Three pacers of Ishant Sharma,Varun Aron and Shami/Umesh Yadav can complete the bowling attack. This bowling attack should be played for all the remaining Tests irrespective of results and individual performances that will help bring stability to the side. Let there be no doubt that the presence of the 6th batsman Ronit Sharma is illusiosery.

it is a good suggestion. They can play with three pacers and two spinners. Dhoni comes as a batsman and wicket keeper. Jadeja and ashwin also can bat. My vote is to drop Shikar and bring in Rahul as he has played recently in Australia under India A team
