Dhoni is the best
by saju john on Aug 20, 2014 10:07 AM  | Hide replies

Currently Dhoni is the only one who can lead our team. But the team as a whole matters a lot.
Maybe to a certain extent physically they might tired. They need to take some relaxation.
This is not the time to critise our captain, but need to give our mental support so that they can strive harder.

hehehehe, while playing no one physical tired or so. Its all drama, players are of IPL generation not capable of playing TEST matches. After all big 4 retired (Sachin,Rahul,Viru,Kumble) India hardly winning matches. And dhoni reling on his CSK IPL friends only instead of real talnted ranji TEST players.

Yeah, Dhoni is the best,if giving excuses after every Indian defeat is a criteria for captaincy of Indian team. He is good in blaming everyone else and never take personal or collective responsibility.

gambir is the right man to lead.
by Manoj poojary on Aug 20, 2014 07:20 AM  | Hide replies

dhoni is no doubt the best is shorter formats of the game but he lacks the luster in test matches as one man can not be so genius.
Gambir has shown great potentials in the last ipl as a captain.he used to attack the oppositions and his decision making had lots of thinking. This game is run by proper decisions at right time with guts. odi and t20 are the gamble game but test match requires deep thinking and calculative risk taking abilities. we need to ease the pressure from dhoni, otherwise it would affect the odis as test losses can demoralize the team.

Dhoni

Dhoni's weird team selection for 3rd test and his excessive penchant for off field things allows to slip precious momentum created after lord's win. In 4th test again his weird decision to choose to bat after winning toss. All those blunders allow to lose momentum in favor of England. 5th test was just formality since by that time England have get full control of the game and built super confidence. It's game of mind and SriLanka has created very good opportunity for India by winning test series and Cook and England are both under tremendous pressure to perform specially after loss at Lord's but our great fluke cricketer captain has his priorities of favoritism, chamchaism, ego which are greater than India's win.

dhoni is still a good captain
by Happy Friday on Aug 19, 2014 10:04 PM

except for he believed in less talented openers, etc.. This series failure is because of poor form of Kholi, Pujara, jadeja.. even rahane, vijay failed in the last 4 innings. No captain can save a series with 5 players failing consistently. Dhoni needs to take blame for supporting flat track players like rohit, dhawan etc who will fail badly in australia in world cup if they were selected. Gambhir did not play well either but it is quite long time after he is getting chance and i think he did not play in practice match either.
Missing early 30's Dravid and Sachin very badly!

question is what has england won in 150 years of cricket? NOthing. Just until yesterday they were known as the whipping boys of world cricket. They have started to win only recently since 2009 and look at those big mouths. Remember, england can only win in england, outside they are lambs as well. It took them 30 years to win a series in India, while we won the last series in england in 2007, just recently if compared. Yes, no excuses for surrendering the lead and then losing so badly. First thing first remove that bad omen fletcher and dhoni as captain, but then who is going to captain? I dont see anyone else. He has already destroyed players like sehwag, gambhir for his favourite bunch of boys around him. Also, drop that kohli for one series who was more concerned about that anushka finding a place around the dressing room.

But who is the great captain who allowed those lambs to win test series in Indian soil after 30 years? Got your answer? Don't blame England for your loss, it's wrong team selection and undue attention to off field things(both by a single great man) allows to let go momentum created after lord's win, Dhoni allowed to lose that momentum and England has grab that in 3rd test. 4th & 5th test is just formality since by that time England have get full control of it. Any sports can be win or lose on based of momentum created before it and India gifted it to England in 3rd test, that was the foundation of miserable cricket and all happened in 4th and 5th test is just formality since we lose those test matches before it started by gifting very precious momentum to England in 3rd test.Remember England and Cook are under tremendous pressure after lord's test and Dhoni gifted them confidence by making weird team selection and concentrating on jadeja-anderson issue. So, it's only Dhoni who need to be blamed for the test series loss.

Why so fuss!
by vishak karanth on Aug 19, 2014 08:16 PM

Problem with Indian fans is that we rip apart anyone who's underperforming or have had the bad time of their career. Sport is always like a coin. You have winner on one side and loser on other! To be always winner will not make you better...it's losing what makes winner stands out. I agree one has to aim for winning, but losing will not make you an outcast! Cricket is getting way too much importance and should be considered as just another sport. This is the same captain who gave us T20 and World Cup and we have already reached the conclusion to remove him. Replace him with whom?

What's going on with selectors and fans. Think rationally and patiently. If he wins the test matches these same men will start conferring him with accolades!

captaincy
by k v r murthy on Aug 19, 2014 06:30 PM

dhoni should not be removed as a captain, the marathi fellows like gavskar should definetly be punished, they require this treatment, what these fellows have done earlier including tendulkar. tendulkar has always played for his centuries. either we won or lose, this is then only called a sport.

Dhoni as Captain
by srirama chandra rao on Aug 19, 2014 05:29 PM

Dhoni has done well as Batsman in the series. For batting failures of all the top order batsman, Dhoni cannot be blamed. No body can replace him as captain at this stage. But as keeper, they can consider Saha or Sanju so that Dhoni comes as a batsman and can concentrate on capataincy. We need a specialize spinner like Rahul sharma or amit not part timers
