HAS TO BE 3PACERS &2 SPINNERS COMBO OVERSEAS

(contd.) They should learn from capt Dhoni to adapt to situation. Besides, all were new to English conditions and relatively inexperienced. Way forward ? Patience for couple of yrs because they are the best and cannot be dropped or changed. They will have to find ways to negate effects of IPL or T20 games which does seem to have some effect on their batting especially on likes of young Rahane Jadeja etc. May be management should also find innovative ways to preserve them and insulate them from too much IPL.One surprising disappointment was the poor fielding and catching which was supposed to have improved due to IPL !Special slip catching exercises need to be taken up with some “in-situ” like simulated catching exercises. Bowling: pacers have to be encouraged and preserved with domestic matches played on lively wickets. Spinners must be encouraged to get as much exposure as possible in overseas conditions. It has to be invariably 3-pacers and 2-spinners combo overseas. If the English and the Aussies can win in our subcontinent spin friendly wickets with pace attack then why not India use its strength on spin bowling to win matches overseas in pacer friendly wickets and it is feasible. If Moeen Ali can get 18 wickets in English conditions why can’t Indian spinners ? The spinners have to be made to lean it in order to enable India win overseas more consistently as just with Indian Pace attack the task is virtually impossible

It is obvious whether our spinners lack the technique of bowling spinners or our batsman are not able to play even spinners with lesser credentials. What a climb down from the days of Chandrasekhar, prasanna even at a later stage Kumble, we did not go with a specialist spinner for the series

Excepting sehwag all others have taken retirement as age is the factor giving way to youngsters. Their services should be utitlised to groom these young and talented cricketers and provide necessary foundation to rise to the occasion
