TIME TO SACK DHONI FROM CAPTAINCY
by NITIN RAJ on Aug 17, 2014 11:35 PM  | Hide replies

The selectors have trusted Dhoni too much. Team selections were not upto the mark. The selectors went in with too many bowlers. They could have replaced Ishwar pandey with a proper batsman on this tour. When you are observing that Virat and pujara are failing continously, the team management could have given a break to both of them. Rohit sharma just got one game. One must not criticise with Rohit's attempt to be aggressive. What India needed was couple of attacking batsman at the top. I would have preferred Sehwag in place of Gambhir for this tour. Sehwag scores fast and takes away the game from the opposition. All these young guns tried to stop their natural ability and try to play defensive game which resulted in their downfall. Jadeja was too much favoured by Dhoni always. Time has come to change the captaincy. Though Rohit is not finding place in the test team, i would rate him higher and put the burden of captaincy on his shoulders.

Sehwag and Gambhir were the best opening pair for India. Their numbers were consistently better than Tendulkar-Ganguly and Gavaskar-Chauhan. But players like Sehwag, Gambhir, Laxman, Yuraj, Harbhajan etc. hurt Brand Dhoni.

Are you talking about test cricket or ODI? I have been following cricket for last 45 years. To me, Gavaskar-Chauhan was best Indian test opening pair that India had produced till date.Tedulkar-Ganguly was the best in ODI. Statistics can be often be misleading. When comparing statistics, due regard has to be given to nature of pitch, quality of bowling etc.

Why blame ODI
by Rushwat Pawar on Aug 17, 2014 11:31 PM

Dhoni and co did not even play as many overs as required for ODI. They showed no balls

scrap ipl
by prashanth gudibande on Aug 17, 2014 11:21 PM  | Hide replies

scrap ipl and allow players to play county in england and ranji trophy in india. today's players are just behind easy money through corrupt and fixed ipl matches. what else can you expect from these players? can any of these players have the caliber to play a long innings and score 300 ? forget 300 by individual player, let the entire team score a decent 40 score every innings they play. and let the bowlers take 20 wickets. let fielders take correct catches in slips. it seems nobody wants to play correctly. just they represent to make money and enjoy foreign tours with their gfs. unfortunate the gentlemen's game has taken a back seat..

You mentioned fixed IPL matches. If not all, any IPL matches seem to have the most exciting movie script like finish. Hopefully, this is by sheer coincidence.

Too Painful
by Chaitanya on Aug 17, 2014 11:04 PM  | Hide replies

It's such a pathetic performance that I'm unable to rule out the possibility of fixing.

To lose twice in such an incredibly poor manner is an unpardonable CRIME, not just FAILURE, of the Indian cricket establishment. That includes senior BCCI officials, selectors, coaches (chief, batting, bowling, fielding), mentors, consultants, psychologists, whatever.

And to think this was once the number one ranked Test playing nation. Even some non-Test playing nation such as Ireland would have probably fared much, much, better.

The Team India's crushing defeat indicates lack of leadership and courage amongst the top players. It is reported that some players have taken girlfriends even. We still remember the discipline maintained by players who were more successful on foreign lands. The players need resting for sometime.

we never dream once upon a time star of south africa tour s shreeshanth cought while fixing matches without BCCI consent so in this team also there will be some dis honest player who threw matches for money in pounds may be london police may investigate the scam before the team flee to india it is all money that makes messi come to kolkata and was paid money of sharda scam so please check source of money in these players if you want the reason for 3-1 loss or 0-4 whitewashes back 2 back as we indians wasted our valuable time in watching these all test matches with the hope that at lease one pair of players will perform like VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid in Eden Gardens against Australia 2001 but all our hopes washed away like road in uttarakhand now? Players get more money for one day matches even more for t20 format so they underperform in test format? If they are underperforming then what coach and selection committee do?
