THE POST SACHIN INDIAN CRICKETING ERA BEGINS
by damodaran mohan on Nov 19, 2013 06:26 PM

Welcome to post Sachin cricketing era of young crop of cricketers. Cricket has completely transformed to a new level since Sachin started his career 24 yrs ago. When Sachin entered the national scene there were very few talented and dashing players like him. Perhaps that was why the Indian playing XI of his time was virtually a one man army and perhaps couldn't achieve much for the side in his early days other than displaying his individual skills. But what he couldn't achieve as captain he achieved as a cricketer inspiring as a role model thousands of youth across India to aim to become cricketers like him. While there might not be another Sachin Tendulkar but it is very encouraging that at least Sachin's absence will not be felt in on-field performance given the emerging pool of talents. Sachin was last among the fab four or five to retire and it is to the credit of BCCI and other state bodies that team India has virtually ready with man to man replacement in all these important Test positions. Yes, Pujara for Dravid, the wall, Virat Kohli for Sachin for the middle order stability and and Rohit Sharma for Laxman for the rescue act in the rear form the near perfect replacements. Needless to say Dhoni will have the privilege of building this new line up which is ready for the all important SA Test series and mark the beginning of a new post Sachin cricketing era for India.

Virat Kohli at Nr 4 position
by Sampurnanand Inamdar on Nov 19, 2013 03:31 PM

it is very early to name Virat Kohli for Nr 4 spot, to me he seems to be confused at his current position while batting, & when you put him at Nr 4 position, situation is not going to get improve against best bowling attack, for me Rohit Sharma is better option for Nr 3 spot, he is calm & technically sound, he deserves that space, currently Virat is in form but he lacks petions & technique on offer, hence he may not get suceefull for long, Rohit is a perfect candidate for me at Nr 4, since his class is far apart from Virat, always remember, class is permant, form is temporory.

There is a diffrence between 100 centuries & 11 centuries, you are pravoking us by comparing Virat Kohli with SRT listening to Channels like AAJ-Tak or Zee TV & making your judgement, it seems you do not have any sence or knowledge of Cricket. you said Selfish!! are you anti Indian, Jihadi-Pakistani? even they have not used this kind of words openly for SRT! no Doubt Virat is upcomming star but he has to proove his batting in every conditions with consistancy, flemboyant apperance on the field will no longer help him & people like you, see the performance of Virat Kohli against whatever attack Windies had on this tour, he should have scored centuries in both test like Rohit Sharma, but it doesn't happened that way in Cricket, SRT shown consistancy & improvement in his game till he exist, can Virat do that?? let us wait & see Virat in SA...best of luck...you & Virat..

Wait for a couple of years before deciding. SRT was notGOD during the first 4-5 years of his tenure. At that stage, SRT was not even predicted to beat Gavaskar's records.

Good Joke Shikari. Sachin was Predicted to Beat the Runs Scored by Allan Border (He was the leading Run Scorer then) at the Age of 18. Forget about Age 24. At 24,He already made 16 Test 100s. The Beauty of Sachin's Records is, a Single Guy wont be able to Beat it. Means, Breaking the Records in ODIs 'and' Tests by a single Guy like Cook or Kohli or Kallis wont be happen.

OK, noted about the prediction by Hughes. But maybe you dint observe the previous series between Ind & Aus which consisted of so many 300 plus scores. With so many flat pitches nowadays, it is not a tough ask to break Sachin's records.

you can expect Pitches become more flat in India. But nobody can't be sure about, Australia wont have a Better Bowling Dept in Future. And also I am sure, BCCI will be forced to ask Curators to make pitches with little more Help for Bowlers. 2 or 3 debacles in Overseas and also less interest due to High scoring matches will force to do that. And pressure from Media and People to score century in every match will play a huge role in future for Virat (Dont forget a score less than 100 termed as Flop for sachin).

I sincerely request all to spare Kohli. Do not compare Kohli with Sachin. It will take years and years to come to reach the record of Sachin. 100 centuries and 200 tests great achievement.

Poudy man never becomes sachin tendulkar......Time will tell If he remained same then he will be dropped soon from the team,,,,This is not the insult but to be sachin tendulkar he has to be ground to earth like him,,,,so don't compare kohli yet with the legend.

New Sachin in the making!
by seejo paul on Nov 18, 2013 01:56 PM

Yeah true. Kohli is a promising talent and he is in a journey to the greatest. But, fact is, quite a few have started the journey, none could reach there. Recent example is Kevin Peterson. There was a time when he was compared to Sachin. But he is not the same now.
