New Sachin in the making!
by seejo paul on Nov 18, 2013 01:56 PM

Yeah true. Kohli is a promising talent and he is in a journey to the greatest. But, fact is, quite a few have started the journey, none could reach there. Recent example is Kevin Peterson. There was a time when he was compared to Sachin. But he is not the same now.

VIRAT KOHLI

Yes , another SACHIN in the making .

He's got that talent & class but only thing is that he should maintain same fitness & form for another 15 -16 years which is really big task given the amount of cricket being played these days .
Also he must control his anger & remain calm & composed on field .

Cricket is not the same anymore
by Mahadeva Mishra on Nov 18, 2013 10:46 AM

Well cricket is not the same any more. Not too many people watch it these days. When Sachin played the pressure was tremendous. Now people have lost trust in the game. Maximum damage was done to the game by people like Rajiv Shukla and Srinivasan.

You can see his performance. he is just 24 years old and he has 17 hundred in his name. and if we consider 40 years as retirement age then he has another 16 years. don't know how many more centuries he may add. may be he will surpass Sachins records of centuries. Also he will be another indian who will 200 in OdI. Mind it he he

There is no doubt that in future, higher percentages of games played will be of ODIs and T20s. Having shown that he has what it takes to succeed in the shorter version of the game, Virat is surely a contender for Sachin's ODI records. But it is the Test Matches where a boys are separated from Men. Will he show suitable application for the longer format of the game, Will test match ever survive in 10-12 years time are some of the questions that can't be answered so easily. So we'll wait and watch. Let us only wish him the best luck and hope he remains fit for the benefit of the country.

You also do not know if he will be able to continue for another 16 years. Every body cannot be Sachin.

One cannot have arithmetical calculation like this. If it is so, Azar (who scored three centuries in first three tests) and Vindo Kambli (who scored two double centuries in his second series) would have ended with more than 50 centuries. What is required is consistency in performance over a long period of time (which Sachin showed from 1989 till 2011 South Africa Series. Similarly, Ganguly/Dravid/Laxman/Kumble maintained their consistency over a long period of time.
