Mom
by itakeabook on Nov 08, 2013 05:30 PM  | Hide replies

Aswin - 5 wicktes and 124 runs. 25% of wickets and 27% of teams score
Sami - 9 Wickets by a fast bowler on eden is wonderfull took 45% of wickets 9/20

Best Batsman of match is Rohit bcos he scored 39% = 177/453 of runs.

I guss who ever selected MOM did not see bowling figures.

It doesn't matter most...
It matters most that situation when you score or get wickets.
Rohit Joins Dhoni when score was 83/5 and out when score was 436/7, but Ashwin came at 156/6 much much better position. Getting 5 wickets in a test match is nothing special from a main bowler...

There is always a bias towards batsmen in all forms of cricket...in India we should be concentrating on the bowlers since the bowling has been bad almost throughout our cricket history.

A bowler bags 9 wickets for 100 odd runs and you give MOM to a batsman? No wonder quality bowlers have become rare species in our country. Replace bowlers with bowling machines and award the batsman who hits longest six in every match.

Ashwin deserved it, he bowled as many overs, economy under 2, 4 wickets, 1 catch, 120 plus runs.

Its OK
But Ashwin's job was bowling and he got 4 wickets out of 20 and there is nothing special about in..
He batted brilliantly no doubt, but Rohit and Shami were more deserving as because of their performance as well as debut players.

Its not like Rohit hasnt been in international game before.. 5 years, 100 odis is enough. debut in this match is just a title for him.

shami yes, he could have also won.

if ashwin didnt support rohit in batting, we could have not got the lead. his role was as crucial.

You need to understand the difference of ODIs and Test Matches...

Secondly, how can you say like that, might be B.Kumar or somebody else stays with Rohit...

are we guessing who can who would?

point is simple, rohit has the experience. it really isnt worth calling a debut when somebody has played so much cricket.

can you really say its the same for someone who makes debut in test after playing 10 odis? i dont think so.

secondly, if there was no lead, WI wouldnt be under as much pressure. that part gets discounted.

Shami

Most deserving candidate for MOM..
Because, pitch was playing nicely and he used reverse swing brilliantly.

What is the meaning of talking like Muslim or Hindu here...
India found an excellent bowler in Shami, who can use reverse swing with the old ball quiet brilliantly.

There is no point talking Hindu and Muslim here. But those who selected MoM could not conceal their bias even when the whole world was watching.

the bias is not because of his community, the bias is favoring batters. ..why do you plebs like to give it a communal flavor

Truth is always bitter but the only way to improve is accept it. There is systematic bias in India. No doubt about it.

Even if it was a Manohar Singh or Muttiah Sami instead of Moh Shami, they would have denied MoM.

MoM....
by adam smith on Nov 08, 2013 04:47 PM  | Hide replies

Why couldn’t they have picked two players for the ‘man of the match’? They should have picked Moh. Shami along with Rohit Sharma. I’m sure it must have been done earlier. There certainly must be a precedent.

The culprit in my mind, I think, is Ravi Shastri. He must have wanted to pick a Mumbaikar – the other Mumbaikar having failed to score!. I think Shami got a raw deal.

if ashwin has not played well means, india would surely struggling to get 220 runs. With margin of some leading West Indians might get 250 as leading and they will get upper hand. That Dhoni Basher also not intimate any goodness of Ashwin batting. Fu-- u Dhoni. Very honest persons only can understand my view.

Dhoni basher's batting avg in Test is 39.72 whereas ash Avg is 41.11. Dhoni is a luckyman thats it.

Shami bowled really well on his debut. But we need to understand that India were at one point 83/5. Shillingford was in his groove. So Rohit had stop the fall of wickets and score as well. He is a debutant, so he surely will be having butterflies in his stomach. He got India out of trouble. If not, then Shami would be left with very little total to defend. This is where Rohit scores over Shami.

Nobody with a fair mind will deny Shami the MoM. But we have people like the Marati Cricket Brh Club.

Ravi Shastri could play for India only because he was connected. He is playing the 'old boy club' where a clique will rub its own backs. He was expressly asked to fly to New Zeland by Gavaskar. Even then there was a better pool of talent outside Bombay. TE Sreenivasan was a much better batsman those days and he could face Imran or any fast bowler with ease. He was given very little opportunity.

Nice to see BCCI spoil a scheduled overseas series and instead call a dead team for time pass in India again and again to please one player and improve its own test record.
