of the most disciplined spells by an Indian bowler after a long time. Reminds me of Kapil paaji... Well bowled, Shami.. and all the best.

MOM for Shami
by Sasanka Mahapatra on Nov 08, 2013 06:07 PM

The MOM should have gone to Shami...we have seen long batting performances in many matches on indian conditions, but have nor seen such a scitillating match winning performance from an Indian fast bowler in India...that too a Test debtant.

Over the years, we have seen so many Tests in India that have gone away from us due to poor bowling performances, therefore this comes as as fresh breath of sir to see an Indian quickie bowling so well on what I thought was a track tailer made for the spinners. In effect, his 9 wickets made the most impact on the Test....

Yes. Windies was on the top of world cricket at one time. Lloyd, Greenidge, Haynes, Roberts, the Bullet - Marshall, Garner, Ambrose, Walsh, the Rolls Royce of Fast Bowlers - Michael Holding, Dujon etc. Lloyd started the trend of selecting 5 to 6 genuine quickies in the team & send the opposition reeling. Wonder where that glory is gone? The current Windies team seems to be a blot on such a glorious legacy. it only has clowns such as Kiran Pollard or mawaalis such as Gayle. Even the bowlers lack yesteryear's fire.

That is natural...even Australia have gone thru their downs after a matchwinning decade of wins...
