Dhoni is the best captain
by Kabadan Y on Mar 27, 2013 11:30 AM

No body understands the situation of a game as he does and he has shown how keen he is about trying to be in the winning side. But cricket is a team game and the team must have the skills and ability to do well. In the India condition this team has exceptional skills and the new talent that is groomed has lived up to that standards. But, the same team will struggle in foreign conditions because beyond the bat, ball, stumps and umpire everything else is different. Atmosphere, pitch, opponent skills and crowd support. Of all this the opponent will be in his native skill exploitation territory and will have the so called home advantage. All these double century heroes will score a paltry in those conditions simply because they do no know it. But batsmen like Kohli, Tendulkar and to an extend Pujara will try to apply themselves and will try to prove their worth to the cause of the game. So, to be really a champion side, team should be molded to perform in any condition....easier said (wrote) than done. Dhoni will surely attempt to do it.

I want to know from Mr.Captain that what is your plan to accommodate Wridhhiman Saha in the team? How long he has to prove himself? What is your backup plan to prepare a good Wicket-keeper Batsman in future?

I praise Dravid for his decission to retire once he realised his reflexes slowed down as such reading length or reaching ball became problem for him,in spite of performing better than other celebrities in England he retired. But after that Sachin played lot many matches and awfully got bowled out by lesser bowlers that to in home condition and yet shamelessly holds the key position and the selectors are scared of talking to him.The game is bigger than an individual and at 40 Sachin can never work wonders ands is blocking the entry of a talent.

100 crore people and one game to hue and cry, that also wins only bcoz playing in home condition. What about football, volleyball?? no stamina?? stamina only for hue and cry. Great cricket analysts..hahaha

CRICKET IS FOR YOUNG AND ENERGETIC TEAM NOT FOR SENIORS !
by A Srinivas on Mar 27, 2013 11:13 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni is a born captain and his tricks are good in keeping lazy fellows out of the team.. we need consistency if not its better to get out of the team without any hesitation, the players who are really not fit get out of the team get ready and come back. Very nice policy. Good captain for India ever seen before...

Dhoni as a batsman
Test Avg over all 39.0, Test avg overseas 28.0, No overseas century or match winning inning in test carrer even after playing 61 test.
T-20 Strike rate- 113, No fifty or match winning inning in entire career even after playing 42 matches
ODI- Good avg manipulated due to no. of not out innings & manipulative batting position. Even in ODI most runs scored on flat indian wicket against team like Pak/SLK & no overseas century.
Dhoni overseas ODI avg is just 39 with no match winning inning. If you remove his no. of not out innings(52 times), his avg drops less than 35 even in ODI.
As a wicketkeeper- Dropped catches in almost every match.

Dhoni test average outside
In WI 2006, 24
In SA 2006, 26
In AUS 2007, 17.62
In SA 2011, 35.8 ( one inning of 90 when styen/morkel was kept out of attack for 2-3 hrs)
In WI 2011- 19.5
( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury).
In Eng 2011- 30.0
In Aus 2012- 20.0
As a captain good record only on indian pitches. Overseas he has lost more test matches(09) than what he won(05)
Win includes SLK, Bng, WI & NZL.
All other wicketkeeper batsman like Mat prior, Mclumn, Deviller, sangarkara are worldclass & have many match winning overseas inning while mediocre dhoni has none. He is simply made by add agency, media & political fans by hyping his small succ

When you are rich and successful, you are right, you are handsome and you sing well too. Dhoni was almost discarded, then he turned around and made Team India proud. All those who cried for his blood is singing his praise, esp the retired seniors.

Cachinnate loudly !!!

In today's age, the word "building" refers to a totally different connotation. The crux is : "With disproportionate money available for easy grabbing; the adulation that players are guaranteed within a disproportionately short period; the extra comforts showered disproportionately on contrived achievements; the disproportionately demigod status bestowed on even transient (one time only) big performance; the disproportionately refulgent glare on players in social gatherings ... and the list can be added - automatically SELF MOTIVATES any selected player with no grooming needed at all Tech advancements have also made it that easier for everyone to flourish.

Compare this with our REAL LEGENDS : Sunil Gavaskar (Batting); Kapil Dev (Pace bowling); Prasanna, Bedi, Chandrasekhar and Venkata Raghavan (Spin quartet) - Theirs is in Churchill's words , "Blood, Toil, Sweat & Tears". Today's one series/match wonders in most favorable of all circumstances are not fit to hold a candle to these MODEL LEGENDS.

Or take Mike Brearly of England (with little to speak of his test experience before being captain); Lee Germon of New Zealand (again little before captaincy) - each brought to the world the TRUE GREATS in IAN BOTHAM (England) and FLEMING (New Zealand) under their astute tutelage.

Can you single out one cricketer to have come out under DHONI's tutelage in India's Cricket horizon.

Reality: Players develop themselves; THEY NEED ONLY OPPORTUNITIES TO

Contd: If Dhoni's achievement can be singled out aphoristically it is that he set the trend for " ANYBODY CAN LEAD THE TEAM" in Indian Cricket.

Dhoni needs to raise his standards and do better to build a team
by Talisman on Mar 26, 2013 10:09 PM  | Hide replies

India has no real fast bowlers that you can call upon when you tour SA or Australia or England. Dhoni knew that and he had personally led the team that got blanked out 0-4 twice. Yet, he has done nothing about it. He supports this IShi Sharma that has played more matches than Kapil Dev and still takes 1 wicket every 60 overs.

India has found one good batsman in Pujara. To give credit to Dhoni for Pujara is like insulating Pujara and his hard work. Read about Dhawan. He has been working and correcting his errors for the last several years since he got dropped after a couple of ODI matches. To give credit to Dhoni in finding these guys does not make sense.

I am not blaming Dhoni here. But the author of this article and rediff who have nothing to do but to create fantasies like this without having a clue about sports.

IAb: It is because of fellows like you who hardly understand sport, the indian media survives. You obviously have a problem with math as you seem to tell us one mango is better than two mangos. Back to school for you.

Cricket is a team sport and hence any win is not one man's win. This is wrong.

Hard core fans think long-term and want india test team to be #1. IPL fans are excited about one series or even one IPL match. So, you know where u stand.

if you have an opinion worth hearing, perhaps you shld use a little bit of that something between ur ears, if that exists instead of calling others names.
