RE:Sachin 4/10
by archana dass on Mar 21, 2013 12:05 PM

We have a habit of getting over enthusiastic! I agree that Shikhar played a gem of an innings but u can't just give him the title of the greatest batsman. He has to prove himself overseas! His consistency will tell with time. As for Sachin I don't think 4/10 is fair enough . He made 37 agreed but the manner in which he got out proved that he was in a hurry as was the team to score the runs needed as time was passing and the test would have drawn. Even Virat got out because of this hurry! Remember, in the series he has been the backbone for the other batsmen. Whether its the 81 or the 37(he had 92 run partnership which stabilized the Indian Innings). But Sachin being Sachin can only find respect from his critics when he makes a century! Poor Thing!

SHIKAR DHAWAN
by shantharam rao on Mar 20, 2013 10:42 AM  | Hide replies

It is too early to consider Dhawan a great batsman.Wait for some more matches. His record at Ranji Trophy is not that great.First let him settle down in test squad.Playing in South Africa and England may be difficult for his style of batting.Anyway wishing him best of luck.

Agreed....Though Shikar deserves all the credit for the match winning innings at Mohali,he need to undergo the real test on the overseas wickets.

Probably this writer did not see the match and just went by wickets. This was Ashwins best bowling effort even though with less wickets. I thought he bowled superbly . The author is insane.

This is super crapy

Not just on anti Ashwin Bias overall the person who has written this piece has no understanding of test cricket and has written this not purely reading the scorecard. Virat Kohli should 3 / 10 for kind of fielding bloopers. MSD is still okie that he up the ante when needed.Ojha and Ashwin did put pressure so that Jadeja could capitalize. Tendulkar steadied the innings from free fall.

Batsman has to change gear depend upon whether ball is reverse swinging etc. Ball was reverse swinging when sachin (1st inning, old ball) and dhoni (2nd inning) was playing. So ofcource they played defensive at that stage and that was requirement of that moment..they know better than us actual situation ..Writer is writing just like it was T20 match :) Dhoni, avoid reading this kind of krap..!

Dhoni has mentioned that to keep his focus, he does not read 'sports' section of newspapers.

Ashwin Bashing on Rediff Continues
by Ajay Ganesh on Mar 19, 2013 09:15 PM  | Hide replies

Unbelievable that rediff continues to thrash Ashwin inspite of him being Indias Leading wicket taker in this series i.e 22 wickets. How can the heading read disappointing "again" for somebody who has just taken 18 wickets in the previous 2 tests.Infact he was tighter in this test matc compared to the 1st and 2 nd test were he picked up more wickets but was loose at times. lazy reporting by rediff as usual.

boss.. ashwin gets to bowl the maximum overs along with jadeja. He will surely get wkts in that case.. bhajji was under bowled in both the tests and never got long spells.decide for yourself who is biased

Hi Rahul. Not getting into any comparison on overs or wickets taken by bhajji or Ashwin.Just believe the author is harsh on India's leading wicket taker in this series.

What's SRT's game plan ??
by Jaguar on Mar 19, 2013 08:24 PM  | Hide replies

What exactly is he thinking?? These pitches are dead and flat.. but why is he having this defensive approach..? No idea how on earth he's going to survive the SA fast bowlers in their own backyard and he's not retiring yet!!

Good observation. Even old ball can do tricks. Most paper players who simply have watched cricket only on TV and not played, cannot fathom the risk involved even in putting an old ball to fence when it is bowled at the right length at 130 km/hr.

Even with all the experience Sachin had to be very cautious.

india 280 for 2 , SRT had the right plateform to launch offensive but since he is overhyped & overarted , got out to a bowler who was hit around by everybody.

Proved himself that he is not even good for flat pitches.

He is just thinking how do I satisfy these people. I have carried their burden of expectations for 23 long years. Still they want me to score a century whenever I hold the bat in my hand. Why do they expect me fire when the youngsters are doing a fab job? My job is to hold the innings together and I'm doing just that. When the team needed me to hit all around the park I did that but now my role has changed. How do I satisfy the billions of expectations?
