What's SRT's game plan ??
by Jaguar on Mar 19, 2013 08:24 PM  | Hide replies

What exactly is he thinking?? These pitches are dead and flat.. but why is he having this defensive approach..? No idea how on earth he's going to survive the SA fast bowlers in their own backyard and he's not retiring yet!!

Batsman has to change gear depend upon whether ball is reverse swinging etc. Ball was reverse swinging when sachin (1st inning, old ball) and dhoni (2nd inning) was playing. So ofcource they played defensive at that stage and that was requirement of that moment..they know bbetter than us actual situation ..Writer is writing just like it was T20 match :)

Good observation. Even old ball can do tricks. Most paper players who simply have watched cricket only on TV and not played, cannot fathom the risk involved even in putting an old ball to fence when it is bowled at the right length at 130 km/hr.

Even with all the experience Sachin had to be very cautious.

india 280 for 2 , SRT had the right plateform to launch offensive but since he is overhyped & overarted , got out to a bowler who was hit around by everybody.

Proved himself that he is not even good for flat pitches.

He is just thinking how do I satisfy these people. I have carried their burden of expectations for 23 long years. Still they want me to score a century whenever I hold the bat in my hand. Why do they expect me fire when the youngsters are doing a fab job? My job is to hold the innings together and I'm doing just that. When the team needed me to hit all around the park I did that but now my role has changed. How do I satisfy the billions of expectations?

He will be a colossal failure in South Africa. There Steyn, Philander, Morkel & the rest will give him nightmares & sleepless nights. South Africa will either make him a man or dump him forever. I hope for his sake the former prevails.

Y r u pessimistic. The Sr heroes were also geginners when they started their career. They also scored heavily in home tests before they did overseas, perhaps Gavaskar excepted

bounce and fast swinging bowling is anyway more exciting to watch than just walk-kin up to throw the ball or chuck the ball

performance abroad - baptism by fire
by abhi ganguly on Mar 19, 2013 06:03 PM  | Hide replies

We shouldn't go overboard with his performance given the fact that real test lies on seam friendly pitches abroad and we always struggle. Unless you got a good technique and footwork, unless you are going to bring in the old fashioned way of Test batsmanship in your individual game, you are going to struggle.

MANY MORE HAPPY VICTORIES FOR INDIA
by SUBRAMANYAM JAMBUNATHAN on Mar 19, 2013 06:01 PM

It is heartening to see India take an unassailable lead against touring Australians in the Cricket Test. Hope this would be replicated in Deli test also. As per media reports, I feel, Shewag's attitude cost his place dearly in the test. Hope he will be able to return to test cricket with a bang!! Best of luck to Indian Cricket team. M.J. SUBRAMANYAM

According to me there is no space for him in this team when he is not able to take a wicket when it is a must also as a strike bowler we expect him to wrape up the tail unders of the opponents but he is not able to do when in the morning Boll is moving then what is the use to call him a strike bowler of india.
