CAPTAIN COOL TURNS THE TABLE ON THE LANKANS YET AGAIN !
by damodaran mohan on Jul 12, 2013 04:43 PM

Simply unbelievable! I was one of the lucky ones to have watched (on TV around 3.30am)Dhoni do it yet again !It was not just the trade mark finishing six but he added another towering six and a four in the last over before finishing in style. In fact the last over 15 runs seemed easier to him now that he is getting used to such finishes. Tougher part appeared to be to play the last 7-8 overs to get those 50 odd runs to get to the last over.when his tail ender partners like Ashwin, B Kumar,V Kumar seemed to be deserting one by one. Ishant in fact appeared to be on repeated suicidal run out mission but somehow just about managed to hang on. The more experienced Ishant appeared to panick more compared to relatively junior Kumars both of whom looked more composed. The coach must work with Ishant on the mental aspect to handle such critical junctures. Coming to Dhoni, he made best use of the inept handling of the closing overs by the SL think tank. With two of the most experienced cricketers to assist Angelo Mathews the bankruptcy of their ideas and strategy was simply appalling. However it must be admitted that except for that last couple of bowling overs the SLans had played themselves into the game the way they applied themselves during batting. In fact SLans played very good cricket in the entire tri-series but Dhoni was too good for them. Indian yougistan lead by Dhoni & Virat of course have come out with flying colours in the alien conditions of Eng.&

Dhoni as a batsman
Test Avg over all 39.0, Test avg overseas 28.0, No overseas century or match winning inning in test career even after playing 77 test.
T-20 Strike rate- 113, No fifty or match winning inning in entire career even after playing 42 matches
ODI- Good avg manipulated due to no. of not out innings & manipulative batting position. Even in ODI most runs scored on flat indian wicket against team like Pak/SLK & no overseas century.
Dhoni overseas ODI avg is just 39 with no match winning inning. If you remove his no. of not out innings(52 times), his avg drops less than 35 even in ODI.
As a wicketkeeper- Dropped catches in almost every match.

Dhoni test average outside
In WI 2006, 24
In SA 2006, 26
In AUS 2007, 17.62
In SA 2011, 35.8 ( one inning of 90 when styen/morkel was kept out of attack for 2-3 hrs)
In WI 2011- 19.5
( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury).
In Eng 2011- 30.0
In Aus 2012- 20.0
As a captain good record only on indian pitches. Overseas he has lost more test matches(09) than what he won(05)
Win includes SLK, Bng, WI & NZL.
All other wicketkeeper batsman like Mat prior, Mclumn, Deviller, sangarkara are worldclass & have many match winning overseas inning while mediocre dhoni has none. He is simply made by add agency, media & political fans by hyping his small success as big & h

Ashish, nice negative demotivating numbers about Dhoni I like to point out that nobody plays for averages, him being not out is the reason for India winning so many matches he is the best finisher is accepted by many OVERSEAS commentators and captains Also get me the name of wicket-keepers who have not dropped a single catch in their career I think you can come with better reasons to prove that Dhoni is useless fit for nothing cricket player Tail piece Styen and Morkel kept out for 3 hours?? Were they playing marbles?

His average is not great coz he is unlike selfish persons like sachin who just focusses on own average rather than team result.

Doesnt matter...still he is the best batsmen - wicketkeeper and the BEST ever captain to have...

We Indians only look for personal achievements that's why such comments are coming. Our so called heroes made only personal achievements but India kept losing. A captain's job is to bring the best of his boys and lead the team to victory. Dhoni has been successful at it. If he too focused on personal achievements, trust me India would have never been no.1 like

Dhoni topped the ICC ODI Batsman rankings for several months continuously in 2009. Michael Hussey from Australia replaced him for the top spot in the beginning of 2010.[62]

Dhoni had an excellent year in ODIs in 2009 scoring 1198 runs in just 24 innings at an astonishing average of 70.43. Dhoni was also the joint top-scorer in ODIs in 2009 along with Ricky Ponting, but the latter having played in 30 innings.

On 12 February 2012, Dhoni made an unbeaten 44 to guide India to their first win over Australia at Adelaide. In the final over, he hit a monstrous six which traveled 112 metres off the bowling of Clint McKay. During the post-match presentation, he described this six as more important than the one he hit during the ICC World Cup final in 201

Dhoni scored two centuries in Sri Lanka's tour of India in 2009, a series of three matches in which he led India to a 2–0 victory. With this feat, India soared up to the number one position in Test cricket for the first time in history. India scored 726–9 (decl) in the third match of this series, which is their highest Test total ever.

Dhoni's maiden century against Pakistan in Faisalabad (148) is the fastest century scored by an Indian wicket keeper. Only three centuries by two other wicket-keepers (Kamran Akmal and Adam Gilchrist – 2) were faster than Dhoni's 93 ball century.[98]

You are manipulating numbers here. Sachin and Gavaskar played for records. Kapil and Dhoni play for the country. Dhoni defies your upper-class definitions... He has much more to offer as a value proposition to Indian Team as he has proved over and over again

Tri series Win for India
by Cyril Pereira on Jul 12, 2013 03:02 PM

much of the news back home has been dismally depressing in recent times....endless scams, political bickering, fake encounters/ cold blooded killings of persons in police custody, acid attacks killing/ grossly disfiguring women, large scale rotting of food grain while PDS remaining dysfunctional, IED explosions, ......in this pall of gloom the success of the Indian cricket team led by MSDhoni is heartening & something to feel cheerful about.Team India....keep up the good work & don't rest on your laurels.
