LET 3RD UMPIRE EXERCISE DRS OPTION ON HIS OWN.
by damodaran mohan on Feb 04, 2013 04:28 PM

On the face of it BCCI stand certainly looks unreasonable especially after the standard of umpiring seen in the recently concluded Pak and Eng home series. Some of the decisions were simply atrocious and could have turned the match on its head. Just last week there was a column by Ian Chappel in one of the Indian dailies wherein he had suggested the powers for referral to be vested with the 3rd umpire. It looked to be a good suggestion. Instead of the two teams asking for the DRS, why not the 3rd umpire exercise his powers to REFER and overturn wrong or doubtful looking decisions as he oversees all the decisions from his cabin. It is foolish not to make use of the available technology to minimize human errors just because it is not 100 % foolproof. At least we can get over 99% right.

2 wrong decisions by drs in the first day of the pak sa test itself...during commentary on cricinfo one of the commentators said that ''it is 0-2 for drs today and dhoni must be laughing in india with a beer glass in his hand...''

mr. vaidya, who was laughing? dhoni or bcci? perhaps you should have watched the match properly before shooting your hips out :)

When team-bcci was on the receiving end, was Dhoni or your bcci drinking urine?

such a decision was expected after team-bcci saw such horrible outings overseas of late.

mr dhob, even if assuming drs is made compulsory you will not see it being implied in all countries and all grounds...do you know how costly it is? and do you think all countries and all stadiums can afford it?

What's wrong with Indian media?
by Sachin Joshi on Feb 01, 2013 05:14 PM  | Hide replies

Most of the headlines created project India negatively. Same article could have been titled - "India disagrees with DRS changes". Same mentality is seen with Indian news channels. While if you watch CNN or BBC, the news are mostly factual and neutral toned. Our media must project India positively or in neutral tone wherever possible.

With power comes responsibility !
DRS gives better probability for a player not to be ruled out.
Technolgy can never be 100%. There is something smelly between BCCI not accepting DRS. Maybe the royaltz they have to pay to companies is a concern ???

BCCI AND ICC
by palanisamy on Feb 01, 2013 01:39 PM  | Hide replies

ICC please act sternly. The marons of BCCI is not good for cricket. The moneybag industrialists who are running the show at BCCI is destroying the game and only interested in making money. The indian government is a mute spectator because of political involvement like sharad paw, rajeev shukla, both of them are most hated in cricket and in politics due to their hungry for fame and money. Please, therefore, kick the BCCI out of ICC and see how they are fall in line.

India's BCCI should be kicked out. Better still, banned from the cricket fraternity till the time they start following rules ... period.

As an Indian I am saying so. It is being run by pompous, uninformed, money-minded clowns.
