India's amazing recovery
by Gurjot Singh on Jan 29, 2013 12:55 AM

Team India is back!!! We have already offically secured top ODI spot.
With IPL, we are the top T20 team no matter what official/unofficial stats reveal.
With all sorts of trouble Australia are facing with Sri Lanka, we will easily hanlde them when they are here. I can clealrly see that we will climb to the top of ranking in all forms of cricket very very soon.
Please give Dhoni his due share of respect and credit for providing able leadership.

TRANSITION &REBUILDING STAGE FOR INDIAN TEST SIDE
by damodaran mohan on Jan 28, 2013 08:11 PM

While India is shaping well and doing all right things in the One Dayers the question in everybody's minds is what about the TESTs ? How good are the India TEST side to face the Aussies in Feb ? Answer is just not there although the Aussies look less formidable in batting and bowling compared to the English. But the Aussies have better fighting spirit and would not give up that easily to fight to the last ball. The first and foremost problem for India continues to be the ‘opening pair and middle order collapse’ problem persisting. With Sachin and Sehwag returning to the TEST fold it remains to be seen how batting shapes up. It is the best opportunity to blood youngsters in the opening/middle order . On the bowling front B Kumar and Shami Ahmd. give some hope but you need to have the bowling outfit take 20 wickets which does look a tall order now. With R Ashwin not delivering even the spin deptt. looks wobbly.needing to be rebuilt afresh. R. jadeja has to be part of the TEST side too. Further, will the selectors look back and repose faith in veterans like Bhajji , Zaheer etc. It would be a retrograde step.It could also be the last chance for Dhoni as captain to prove himself. It is a transition time and rebuilding stage for sure for team India and people will have to show some patience.

ONE DAY SIDE SHAPING WELL FOR 2015
by damodaran mohan on Jan 28, 2013 06:34 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni and BCCI must be feeling relieved that the team has just about manged to bring some sort of turn around to win the series and maintain no.1 position. While some credit is certainly due but the fact remains the English, especially likes of KP failed to rise up to the occasion which helped India somewhat salvage from brink after the TEST and the mini Pak series. It cannot be denied that the severe criticism of Dhoni and the side to a great extent made Dhoni &co. lift their game and combine better as a team in all deptts like fielding, bowling and batting To that extent the criticism were quite useful and it is stock taking time for BCCI to further strengthen team India in all versions of game.To the credit of Dhoni it must be said that the on the ‘One Day’ side things are not looking all that bad with the “core’ more or less identified. The best part is the “fielding’ is coming very good .There is sufficient time for the opening batting and bowling outfits to be strung together with new finds in youngsters like B Kumar, Sami Ahmd, jadeja etc. giving stand our performance. The 2015 WC being in Aus, India should try for pace centric bowling attack with four seamers and a spinner all-rounder of jadeja In batting in the opening and in middle order we must try beyond Rohit Sharma , Gambhir etc. who do not look dependable at all. May be Pujara and other new youngsters should be tried out. As far as TEST side is concerned things look ha

NOT JUST YET!
by mohan ramakrishnan on Jan 28, 2013 01:47 PM

There is nothing to brag about the last one dayer. Both our batting and bowling were just mediocre compared to England. Until and unless a Champion country does better in all matches, let's not shout from roof tops about our capabilities. India, one day can perform superbly and the next day give a shameful account.

R Ashwin is a C grade spin bowler
by Chat on Jan 28, 2013 12:24 PM  | Hide replies

R Ashwin is a C grade spin bowler playing in indian team as no 1 spinner. Boys in various clubs r much much better than Ashwin on any given day. I think south lobby backs Ashwin fr team place.

i felt that the problem with ashwin was, he was trying too many variations in the tests. he needs more patience to play against teams like SA or Eng or even Aus in tests

I don't know why some people are putting -ve comments on India's no:1 position in ODI rankings.Eventhough not sensational India had a better outing in both LOI formats. In T20s India won 6 out of last 9 matches and in ODIs also a similar result we got.If SA or AUS failed in their matches it is not India's fault and getting a series win over a power packed England with the likes of Cook,Bell,Morgan,Peterson,Finn,Tredwell is not an underachievement.

This was not England's best team. they had rested players like Trott, Anderson, Broad and Swann and they were in top form moreover all of them are in the leading ICC ranking if you check. Congrats to team India, but this was not a mighty task as per their World Champion standards.

Mr.Bhavesh i can't fully agree with u regarding the players mentioned above
1.Trott:Solid but not a good striker of the ball in ODIs
2.Anderson:Great test but average LOI bowler
3.Broad:We all know what happened to him in 2007 WT20
4.Swan:Not that successful against India in ODIs

India team needs more of Bhuvi's Pujara's and Shami's
by vaibhav kumar on Jan 28, 2013 12:23 PM

There are new kids on the block from teams like Punjab (Jiwanjot), MP (Jalal & Iswar Pande), Rajsthan (Robin Bisht), and probably many more...

This is possible when the franchise focused team India and its members, move away from their own benefits of playing for each others' interests.

Surely the domination of ODI is by chance as others are palying eqaully mediocre cricket, and not due to a great pool of talents and consistency in performance.

Of course the world number ODI team DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE ICC ELITE PANNEL UMPIRE, as mediocrity does not work there.
