Experts ?
by Yogesh Hasabnis on Jan 10, 2013 12:13 AM  | Hide replies

These former cricketers have played so much of competitive cricket, so one can't openly question their opinions. But these people hardly ever give logical explanations about their viewpoints. How can one say that only because somebody is making more runs than others, he should remain the captain in spite of the fact that the team is losing matches badly one after the another for about 18 months now ??

You should see why the team is losing. If the team is losing because of bad captaincy then you can blame the captain, but here the team is losing because the top order has forgotten how to bat. What can the captain do about that? It is the selectors job to provide batsmen who can score atleast occasionally. The captain is not a superman!

are you serious ? don't you see how many mistake as a captain he made since WC 2011? now he scores some runs so you totaly forget his contribution as a captain? can you check your record book and tell me when Mr. dhoni prompted himself? when wicket gone he never comes if tons of runs he comes up the order. He is the one selecting final 11? Just see your spinner Aswin not getting wicket while other spinner are taking wickets still he is fix in 11? there are lot of thing to say about his capatinship.

Dhoni is the best captain we ever had
by Gurjot Singh on Jan 10, 2013 12:04 AM  | Hide replies

Ungrateful people should remember that Dhoni had led us to the mountain top. We were number one in all forms of cricket -- test, ODI WC and T20. IPL is the still the best T20 league.
Dhoni performed while the team failed. Unfortunately all our great players have retired and out of the team. Our bowling has always been iffy. He is doing the best he can do given the hand he has been dealt.

What a great logic when team was full of greats he won only to get recognised as greatest ever Captain and now when team is losing badly one after anothere its team failure ? What has he done to improve performance of weak team ? plainly nothing ! He's mere spectator on ground and keeps waiting things to happen automatically.

Dhoni is good captain than why we are loosing, when we won T20-WC & One day-WC, we all said because of Dhoni captancy, now lost lot of series, we should blame to captain only. other wise we should say we won T20-WC & One day-WC because of yuvi had given all rounder perfomace, man of the match in lot of matches & man of the series in both world cup. so we won because of Yuvi & team perfomance not Dhoni. if you said due to dhoni captancy than i said we are loosing series due to dhoni's captancy.

If we can drop Sehwag who is the highest individual score record holder in world in OdI and in test only Indian to score triple centuries and we say he cannot take his place based on past same is the case with dhoni as captain sehwag has however scored a century in test against England yet he is dropped there is sir suresh raina who has played 160 odi without winning single match how can he get unnoticed very strange decision by selectors in Sustaining with Raina despite so many failures.

sack MSD
by Kuldip on Jan 09, 2013 10:15 PM  | Hide replies

Vengsarkar himself was not an astute captain by any standards and let things drift with almost no control over others.Only his gritty batting came to the fore on a couple of occasions.Wadekar as we all know was the first lucky captain of India.MSD is the 2nd.Wadekar beat the weakest WI team in '71 with an over aged Sobers,Kanhai and Holder.Followed by a freak performance by Chandrashekhar at Oval in '71 beating England for the 1st time. His luck soon dried up and he lost 3-0 on his next visit. It was called 'Summer of 42' as India were all out for 42 at Lords.Dhoni is the luckiest of all with little or no methodical approach.Even Sachin is on record saying that MSD has got the strongest team ever thereby showing a string of wins on our shores. Now that the stalwarts have gone his luck and lack of imagination has also dried up.His downward spiral has just begun,it can only dive to hitherto unknown depths if we persist with him.

Dhoni got the team nurtured carefully by Ganguly and built up over the years by persisiting with real talent and gutsy players, inspite of severe opposition by different lobbies within the BCCI. After Guru Greg was sacked he had the benefit of the efficient Kirsten who did wonders quietly like John Write.

It was this Vensarkar chappel and Dhoni all three destroyed the career of most talented allrounder in the country by not playing the allround legend irfan.
