IPL deterioriating Indian cricketing skillsets and character...
by hawkeye on Jan 04, 2013 04:15 PM  | Hide replies

The IPL is deteriorating the skillsets of players, along with shifting the focus from Test cricket and 50 overs cricket, which needs more specialised skillsets than the slam-bang madness of 20 overs cricket.

The IPL should be played every 2 or 3 years. Otherwise it will spell the doom of Indian cricket, as every cricketer is focussed on building his 20 over skillsets, rather than 50 overs or test cricket skillsets, even though these are more played in world cricket.

Also the IPL , with its aftermath parties and bollywood mingling, is corrupting the austere and spartan discipline and work ethics needed for creating and maintaining the highest levels of sportsmanship.

The New Zealand cricketer Jacob Oram described it as being surreal. He stated , "“After nearly every game there's an after-party, there's Bollywood stars there and fashion parades; the drinks are free and the cheerleaders are around. It's a different world.”

All these also should be avoided and the true nature of sportsmanship brought into it.

Sports is for developing character , not for corrupting it.

Mainly money gained through IPL is too high compared to national games and that's why players opt to play IPL earn more and forget about the performance of the national team. It is demoralizing the Indian cricket. They should not deal with too much money in IPL rather it should be seen as a platform to prove or test the new comers or talents.

The only Hope

Looking at the recent performance of the Indian Cricket team, particularly in the last two ODI's, there is literally no chance for India in the final ODI at Delhi.

The only hope is if the Match fixers help India win the match.

new form of cricket
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Jan 04, 2013 09:40 AM  | Hide replies

BCCI is working on a new strategy to invent T 10 cricket. That's because our batters can just about hang in there for ten overs. We can certainly win this World Cup.

Sack Dhoni. As he is being continued in all forms as Captain without any use every player take it as granted as long as dhoni is captain.
So drop all seniors & bring in New talented/deserving players.
Like Aus/Pak/England select seperate team as well as Captain for Tests/ODI/T 20 those who can do well in that particular format.
