Re: Dhoni Matters

Critics never fail to bring up the 3 matches Vs Eng that Ashwin took total 10 wkts in, which incidentally was 1 less than Ojha. And by the way the avg for Harbhajan in the last 15 matches is 3.6 per test. But when he take 12 wkts we have everyone underplaying it and ascribing it to random factors- (i)pitch (presumably same for everyone. If Pattison can take 7wkts, why not others? (ii)favorite of Dhoni. Not sure because he was dropped for the World Cup finals- it is once in a lifetime chance. (iii) BCCI's favorite. Not sure because the team is filled with Delhi players and selector is from Mumbai.
You give some nonsense topic to argumentative Indians and enjoy the fun.All will come up with various logics and conclusions, each pulling other down, will post regional racist comments and rediff will showcase the same in its forums to the entire world..
He is young, determined and humble. He can bat as well. He is a different bowler from Venkat but has more variations off the bounce. Ashwin spent sometime with Murali and has bonded well with him as a friend. It augurs well for India.
Wish he can build a connection with Erapalli Prasanna and learn a few more tricks to beat the bowlers off the air variations. He will become deadly.
Thsi test was won with efforts of five & not just three men-in-blue. 1) Sachin - score 81 -who stood right there when openers had fallen cheaply. He contributed two nice partenerships with Pujara & Kohli. Picture was TOTALLY CHANGED from his arrival to his dismissal. Had he been out early in that innings, India would have struggling to reach 250 - 300 under pressure. 2) Virat Kohli 3) Dhoni 4) R Ashwin 5) B Kumar - not for his balling, but staying put with Dhoni to reach substancial lead over Aussies. He even contributed with Ishant as well. His 4 boundaries snatched from Aussies were excellent.

Right. But you are understating Dhoni. His was a match winning knock, it just cannot be taken for granted by making Bhuvneshwar staying at one end

Funny how one can club a double hundred with 81! Sachin and Kohli were good, but Ashwin and Dhonis were the differentiating factor between the teams!
I still feel if Sachin had got out initially all the indian confidence would have been dent..so i feel Sachin and Pujara played a vital role in steadying the ship..once its done later Kohli and Dhoni came with much less pressure...

If Dhoni had also scored only 81 then there would have been no pressure on Aussie second innings. And if Ashwin had taken only 2 wkts then Aus would have won the match. And that's why these two were the differentiating factors that led to the win!
