Indeed! Roti, Kapda, Makaan had been aired for decades. Cricket is not going to be the saviour from basic needs. But don't blame cricket, which is at least a game which needs skill. First target those Bollywood and local films made from the money provided by underworld. Everything one gets from 99% of films is not going to be harmful for individual, family and society! That should be the first target.

And while you are at it, (@Ramanna) also stop unnecessary political meetings by random political parties and dynasties. These are leaches that are sucking away resources. Cricket at least gives some sense of sports, healthy entertainment to take mind away from daily grind. We can however lower the dose of nonsensical films and political buffonary!
