Met him for the 1st time in 1993 when he came to play an ODI against Zimbabwe. He didn't mind to give his autograph. I still have preserved his autograph
12 years ago, I saw him in front of my apartment. Unbelievable experience. It was the Kolkata test in 2001. I lived in Tollygunge, Kolkata and a popular cricket journalist with excellent connections in the India team was living there (his apartment on the next floor of mine). Late one night, he had invited Sachin tendulkar, Rohan Gavaskar and Ajit Agarkar to his home. They came on a white Toyota at about 9:30 pm stealthily, but people got a wind of their presence. Within minutes, the area was squirming with people. I took my 1 year old daughter and waited at my door for Sachin and others. He along with others came after an hou or so, I shook hands took pics and wished him luck. The place was full of cameraman, but he was patient. I was speechless.
He will always be adored by Indians at large and the world in general as the Emperor of CRICKET.He has set the standards so high that they can not b broken by anybody ever.
