REBUILDING THE TEST SIDE
by damodaran mohan on Sep 04, 2012 07:19 PM

Now, TEST side rebuilding . Pujara does look to be a prospective permanent TEST addition but he appears very uncomfortable against spin. The way he got out, he had no clue and was not able to read Jeeten Patel at all ! So, Pujara is still work in progress and Kohli is the only one fully accomplished project yet. There is nothing worthwhile to talk about Raina. Further, although Sehwag and Gambhir gave a brisk start which set up the game for India but their current level of performance certainly will not be enough against bigger challenges ahead. How does Ajinkay Rahane fit in ? Then you have the Sachin syndrome to contend with ! How do you fit in and groom other youngsters ? One positive on the bowling side is the progress made by the spin duo of Ashwin and Ojha. It remains to be seen how well Bhajji fits seamlessly into this ‘spin web’ given the all round clamour for his inclusion. On the pace bowling side, again it is work in progress with only Umesh yadav presently seen in the horizon. The selectors and BCCI must ask themselves whether they are on the right path in the rebuilding stage towards march to No.1 TEST side ? If not what different they need to do ?

FROM FUELLING TEST RETIREMENT TO NO 1 TEST CAPTAIN! !
by damodaran mohan on Sep 04, 2012 07:15 PM  | Hide replies

So Dhoni with his trademark last ball winning six powers himself to the No.1 TEST captain of India! BCCI and M/s Srinivasan & co must also be feeling relieved at the 2-0 series win after the disasterous 8-0 washout series of last yr. To that extent Dhoni has really paid his dues to them the way they prepared the ground for a relatively weaker Kiwis side minus Daniel Vettory to refurbish the lost face of the Indian TEST side . It could have seriously gone wrong on the last day when five wickets were down and it almost looked like jeeten Patel was going to run through the side .Even captain cool would not have imagined he could take the side home for a win. But he did it and did it with his TEST ‘batting’ , seldom considered a strong point till this match saving innings. Of course ready help was there from of the new sensation and latest mr. ‘dependable’ of Indian batting, Virat Kohli and became very handy . Dhoni also must have fekt relieved to neutralize the captaincy lapses of NZ 1st innings for which he could have paid heavy price. The 30 odd runs of last wicket partnership of Ashwin and Umesh yadav also saved the day for him. In fact after the whitewash series Dhoni had started getting doubts about himself on his longevity in TESTs the way he fuelled his retirement plans in 2013! All that has changed now and from there now he jumps to No.1 TEST captain of India the way the Dhoni led youngistan side of Pujara,Kohli,Ashw

People don't understand the value of Sachin. He is like Lord Krishna. He doesn't need to score runs. The very fact that he is part of the Indian team, rejuvenate the team and makes the opponents scared of Indian team. Opponents concentrate so much on how to get precious Sachin wicket in their pre-match discussions, there is no strategy for other players and this is helping players like Virat, Dhoni to score runs freely. His guidance to the team members are very valuable as he gets to asses the pitch very early on in the game. Hope people give due credit to his indirect contributions. Without him, Virat, Dhoni, Yuvi won't be able to score any runs. He is the true hero of the Indian cricket team.

If "S" is lord krishna for you then put his photograph and offer prayers in your house. With his current form - Sachin has no business getting on the field. Time to retire and for you my friend - come out of your deep coma/sleep about Sachin

sachin wants to break another record of dravid ie being clean bowled maximum times.
may b, in next innings, sachin vl plead ump, so that he can b out for lbw, so he can save the ignominy of being bowled out in fourth consecutive innings.

Dhoni delivers
by Onlooker on Sep 03, 2012 10:19 PM  | Hide replies

playing responsible, playing a pivotal role, rising to the occasion, encouraging or leaving others to play their own game, keeping cool. These are some of trade marks that make him one of the best captains of all time.

What do loser Sachin fans do at this clout of Dhoni? Shamelessly badmouth, criticize and say he is in Indian team by some sort of mistake since their pet players are losing their place in the Indian team to other rising talents like Kohli etc.

tragedy that he keeps one slot occupied for a dozen deserving players who can also become even better. and no power in the land to dislodge him. can one get a place with so few runs in the kitty for over a year?

Cricket infactuation and fate of other sports!!

Well done Team India for beating Cameroon for 5-4 in Nehru Cup Football Final. You have beaten a worldcalss team who ranks more than hundred places ahead of India. (Cameroon ranks 59 and India ranks 184). I have found no places for you in Indian media. The media and the people of this country are all behind a game which is hardly played by 7 or 8 countries. They play against each other in every 2 months and make a big party with big price money and all fools of this country will keep worshiping these worthless fellows and forget the real heroes. I am fed up with people asking abroad, why is India not able to find 11 good players out of 1.2 Billion population in football. How can I explain them the irresponsibility of our media which will write a head line if Tendulker's son get a cold but will not even spend a little space for the sufferings or ill treatment of Indian football team or our olympians. enough is enough guys, are you people not seeing that BCCI and these Indian cricketers are looting us. They are killing all other sports in India. Remember India had played olympics semifinal of Football against Brazil in 1958. India had drawn France 1-1 in 1950s. we were once upon a time asian champions. from there if we have fallen to this level (ranks 164 now) it is the media and people of this country who is reponsible. we have let them down, not they! so let us congrats Indian football team for beating Cameroon 5-4!!!

Congratulations to Indian football team. It is true that Indian cricket has too many sponsors and too much money but it is also true that people of India like the game. Therefore all this media attention and sponsorship money. Thanks to Kapil Dev for the first world cup India won in cricket and cricket became extremely popular in India. Before Kapil Dev cricket did not have so many sponsors either.

It's our colonial legacy along with divide and rule policy of the ruler that we have inherited. we as nation always aspire to excel through short cut and the cricket is a natural choice in sport because here we have to compete with a few nations to show us as world champion. Pls do not blame media because it is bothered for its TRP not for the well-being of the nation. CRICKET IS hampering not only the health of sports and sportsman of the nation but bulldosing the scant resources of the nation eg- time, money, manpower, media etc. We have adopted getlemen game on the place of power game thereby making us gentle and lethargic that also affect our competitiveness. It has affected our attitude. If India wants to become a DEVELOPED NATION then we have to stop giving that much poplarity of cricket. It is time to look beyond....

tendulkar needs to go home!!

I am from Mumbai, but feels its now time for him to go. If he says that he did not want to retire, till he feels not touching his bat, likes to get up in the morning, even I also feel the same, being a die hard cricket fan, but I would have not held on to the place in the national team, as he feels proud representing the nation, so does Rahane, Tiwari & innumerable across our dear nation. He can very well go to Azad Maidan or any grounds across the suburbs where many individuals old or young play amateur cricket. He can also fulfill his ambition of holding his cricket bat, but I feel there is no way he can block a place in the national side, if he has a self pride, he should now retire like a true Marathi Manoos like Sunil Gavaskar!! Go Sachin Go!!! your time is over in our dear Indian cricket team
