Dhoni
by Vamsee Kanneganti on Oct 03, 2012 06:12 PM

In the Australian match, the run rate damage was devastating, it was known at the end of that match itself and this is not being stated in hindsight, a common fan knew that, Dhoni as captain of the Indian National Team should have known better on how it could come to bite us back and on how to mitigate that known risk.

Risk : Poor NRR creating a very tough qualify scenario in the future
Risk Mitigation : Try to Decrease the NRR difference, especially if an Opportunity presents itself where the risk of loss in match is low.
Execution : NONE,Opportunity presented itself in the Pakistan match and the mitigation plan(if there) was not executed. Was it because there was no risk mitigation ? or worse, risk not identified? or was it because of Kohli was not following the plan ?

After Virat Kohli went berserk in the Pakistan match, Win against Pakistan was a forgone conclusion shortly after middle of the innings! Immediately next, the hope was that Kohli would accelerate even more and try to minimize the damage done by the Australian match but instead he slowed down, this was shocking. It was strange that when the win was not near, Kohli was playing aggressively, and once win was near, he drastically slowed down.Seemed like he decided to take it easy once it was assured that we would win. In T20, every over and every ball counts .Even if Kohli was oblivious,Dhoni should have known better and him being the captain is ultimately responsible for this lack of awareness and carelessness.

c4 Wins out of 5 Games
by Nagarjun none on Oct 03, 2012 05:52 PM

If we compare India's win-lose record of 2007 and 2012 we find that at the end of super eigths, the performance of 2012 is better than 2007. In 2007, the win-lose record was Played-5, Won-2, Lost-1, Tied-1(Won in Bowlout), NR-1. Where as the record in 2012 is Played-5, won-4, Lost-1, Tied-0 and NR-0. One bad match against the Aussies cost us a place in the Semis. Aussies played their last game with a strategy to only qualify and ensure that India is eliminated. Thats why they did not look to Chase 150 and ended scoring only 117 which ensured them a place in the Semis.

Winning against Pakistan is the PRIME target.
by sam shaikh on Oct 03, 2012 05:15 PM

Let them comeout of this mentality and thinking. Should target for the coveted trophy. Our playing in FINAL is always on the mercy of other team. If he beats them with big margin, if he loses or bla bla ........... 1) Remove openers 2) Seperate team for all the format game 3) Check on players selfish perfomance. Rest all HARDWORK.

PEOPLE ARE GUNNING FOR DHONI AND VIRAT
by damodaran mohan on Oct 03, 2012 05:04 PM  | Hide replies

There is some serious non-cricketing reasons for sure haunting team India. The Dhoni-Srikant-Srinivasan linkage is not liked by some people and are deliberately trying to derail team India . Dhoni is right when he says that team did not play as a unit. They want Dhoni removed as captain at least in TEST and T20 formats. BCCI will have to sit down and come with some solution. The side effect is that in reality Virat Kohli lost out a golden chance to be on the top of the world in case India had made it to the semis and then had won the trophy. This many people in the Indian camp and outside didn't want. Coming to the performance part ,India that way did not do badly at all winning 4 out of five games beating stronger teams like defending champion England,Pak and SA. , supposed to be weak link did reasonably well . In fact it was the supposedly the strong batting which let down the team and showed its over-dependence on Virat Kohli. With such opening pair It is impossible to win any tile or series for that matter. It is surprising the selectors don’t realize this. Dhoni’s captaincy was by and large ok although he did make some mistakes. In the last match against SA it seemed he didn’t bring Ashwin early enough. Perhaps he was scared to beat SA within 121 to avoid match fixing allegations as is being alleged for the Aus-Pak match.

Damodaran, if he was so scared he should have worn nappies and slept in his cradle..... It is clearly a display of favoritism. What was the reason to give Rohit Sharma the ball?

20-20
by asli mumbaikar on Oct 03, 2012 05:03 PM  | Hide replies

The matches were fixed.
The Australians deliberately played slow and also made rank bad shots. They (Aus) wanted India out.Why shd a team making say... 170/3 and a team making 130/10 be on the same footing? The wkts lost shd also count. In the super over they take the wkts to account.
A win shd fetch 3 points. Why shd two wins with different margins get the same points?Aussies wanted only 112 and they slowed and batted only for that.

If wkts lost are counted then India would have won because against Pak we lost fewer wkts.Aus was in anyway. There must be changes in the way points are calculated.

Completely agree with this view. The matches are not played in true spirit. Nevertheless, our batsman are below par when it mattered and we do not have world class bowling anyway. So, India got what they deserved.

Example.
1. Play three spinner in one match .
2. his triumph card Ashwin is not eligible in 1st 10 over bowling against South africa.
3. Manoj tiwari is only drink trolly boy.
4. Manoj tiwari does not know play cricket. but Rohit sharma is the besttttttttttttttt cricketer in Dhoni vision.

India is not ranked top 4
by joseph barretto on Oct 03, 2012 04:59 PM

India has not done badly. We must be aware that we are not the top 4 ranked team. Only 12 nations are playing cricket and we are not even the top 2. They have done better.

nothing to blame
by rk vivitha on Oct 03, 2012 04:57 PM

India ins all 3 tight games agaisnt tough opponent. The lost focus against Autralia as they were not able to apply themselff with existing talent. When pakistan use 18 overs spell agaisnt Aussies and expose thier spin weakness as told by Hussey before the match against India, we did not put proper selection. Other wins were overlloked the poor team selection.. mainly spin bowling..
