Reasons for failure
by satyaki bhowmik on Oct 03, 2012 11:36 AM  | Hide replies

1. Poor Opening
Throughout the tournament, opening batsmen got out early. Had they managed to make atleast 50-60 runs within first 7 overs without losing a wicket, India could definitely manage 175 runs in every match.

2. Weak Bowling at death
India do not have a strong bowling attack which can defend 130-140 run. But they were more erratic during death overs which caused a great problem.

also Rohit sharma's batting.it was similar to what Mithali Raj's batting-never interested in scoring even of loose bowling but always safely playing.that is why Indian women's team is where it is.

unimaginative

When target is set for to get SA withi 121 you have to attack with your best bowlers in the initial stage. He gave 3r over to Pathan even though he was not impressive in the previous over and he was belted for 16 runs and then he gave to Rohit Sharma of all for the first time in the tournament and he was belted for 15 runs he forgot that Ashwin is there in the team. He should have taken Bhajji for the match. Dhoni is completely wrong.

ridiculous
by anil c on Oct 03, 2012 11:22 AM

"The plan was to get through the first six overs and then attack the South African batsmen." But why after 6 overs.? if we had to restrict SA within 121 we had to attack right from the start and not after allowing irfan pathan to be belted all around the park..we had to get them all out and that was our only chance..Considering SA weakness against spin one expected dhoni to bring spinners early on but what a blunder he has done..and trying to justify his action...ridiculous.

"WE"......why r u blaming the whole team.....
by S M on Oct 03, 2012 11:14 AM  | Hide replies

I dont understand..why u promoted Rohit so early...and not given clear instructions of keeping the runrate at 10/11...he was more interested in completing his 50. The issue never ends here.........You also given him bowling.....So was it your or "WE" decision.

Dhoni is supporting Rohit... Rohit scored at a rate of 6 runs per over. Badrinath would have scored atleast 8 per over. Morethan that rohit bowled one over spoiled our chances!

i have never seen such a ............ player like this in world cricket in my life. there is no future for india , if rohit is there, I dont understand why selectors are selecting and allowing him to play cricket. He may be the best technical player but he is more a selfish palyer.

We could have won with this team as well but we should have played like other teams have played attack with bat and ball in 20 overs .. we have played always with a view to sc oring 150 or 160 runs why not go boom boom like WI .. and attack with our frontline bowlers in the entire match against SA when we had 121 to defend??look at pakistan they deserve their place in the semis because they played attacking cricket against SA and AUS...against SA their late middle order counter attacked and against AUS they tore them apart with their spinners' versatility..whats the use of having 8 9 batsmen in the team if we use only 6 of them in the match!! why preserve wickets for the end!!

MSD's explanation
by priyankush ghosh on Oct 03, 2012 11:05 AM

Its right that we failed to click a s a team . But how will our team click when we make our strengths look to be our weakness.. how can he explain the pathetic attitude shown by our middle order batsmen throughout the tournament who have always played to post score of 150/5 instead of 190/9. Thats why I posted in another article that WI deserve their place ahead of India in the semis because of their ability to play to their strengths and deploying them effectively . How can we play well a s a team if we dont utilize and maximise our strengths in batting to the fullest.. tell me MSD how can u prove that u have batting depth if u dont exhibit ur depth in power hitting in t20 format within 20 overs..why are our middle order including urself play for strike rates of just over 100 or sometimes even below 100!!even when the start was good .. we have nt stormed in the last 5 overs in this tournament right!! our batsmen were in 50 over mode while playing thereby minimizing our strengths...and why does he make excuses like rains etc.. look at AB devilliers apologising .. to his countrymen honestly accepting they have not played well..what prevents MSD from doing the same...its not always that other teams have got good platforms for their late middle order to fire.. right?? have any of indian batsmen played an innings like du plassis played yesterday .. has ne of our late middle order won matches like umar gul or umar akmal won..have our number 4 played like samuels!!
