to the same team without considering opposition and the conditions. What for Gambhir was in team? Somebody else could have opened with Sehwag. Just two hours ago, Pakistan controlled the game by spinners bowling almost the entire 20 overs. Why India did not play Bhajji and Chawla in place of Balaji and Zaheer surprises me.

True. Captaincy of Dhoni on the field also left a lot to be desired. At that stage bringing in Rohit Sharma for bowling was a big question mark.

i too agree with wcpak. a sensible captain would not go with gambhir in his present form and persist with Zaheer/Pathan pair. 3 pacers against SA on a lankan pitch??
And what logic is it to give the ball to Rohit Sharma when the likes of Ashwin hasnt had a ball? India never went for the kill....
JUST FORGET THE UNLUCKY PAST.TAKE IT AS PART OF THE GAME.IRRATIONAL TO SEEK REASONS FOR NON-INCLUSION IN THE LAST 4.BE GENEROUS IN ACCEPTING DEFEAT.HOPE FOR BETTER TIMES AHEAD.
Indias laloo bowling exposed again, seems everyone in India only wants to bat that too on dead pitches .All bowlers seem part time ,the real pace spear head hahah mr zaheer seems to be walking in his stride nowdays so is pathan
1. Kohli never played yesterday. He does not know to bat in pressure situations (heard this before?) 2. Kohli was afraid to bowl 3. Kohli's SR was 33.33, what a way to bat in T20......! 4. Kohli did not do any catching in the field. So, he is a worst fielder.
Heard of such logic before?? That is how Indian brain works, rather than accepting our faults, we look at someone to blame.....

Honestly, you are the only one from whom I have heard such reasons. Is this your idea of a preemptive strike??
Re: Re: Loss (Pun intended)

Yes, I have seen such logic when India was lost to Bangladesh, when India lost 8-0 overseas, when India bowed out of T20 in the earlier world cups........ Dont believe me, look at other comments :)
For Asia cup, they looked for head-to-head winning record. But for some others, they look for NRR.
Toppers of the group should be the winners in the league matches. How can they consider earlier ranking and put India as A2 even when they have topped the table?
Unluckily for India, we have been at the receiving end twice in 2012.

We are missing the point here by blaming the draw. India's team selection was horrible. What for Gambhir was in team? Somebody else could have opened with Sehwag. Just two hours ago, Pakistan controlled the game by spinners bowling almost the entire 20 overs. Why India did not play Bhajji and Chawla in place of Balaji and Zaheer surprises me.

i agree that team selection was also very bad, but i am just confused why ICC has different rules for different tournaments. I dont blame the rules for our exit, but they also have a part.....
West Indies who won 2 out of 5 and India who won 4 out of 5 matches. Now who went to the next stage......? :)
That is what I meant when I said rules are crazy.
But I too felt from day-1 of the series that last over victories and lesser winning margins meant doom for the team :(
If I was in Dhoni's position, I would have preferred Harbhajan/Chawla in place of Zaheer/Balaji considering SA's struggle with spin.
Better "luck" next time. Mostly we enters in to the semi's or finals on the basis of luck. Australia losses the last match and enters semi. We won match and back to home. Instead of playing cricket, playing politics and creating partiality in the team leads to the defeat.

Though i also blame Australia, as someone said in the discussion they were "technically" correct by targeting the runs needed to go to the semis. That is the first priority for them.
