Objection to Mr.Bedi's statement.
by sridhar narayan on Nov 30, 2012 08:00 PM

Mr.Bedi, with due respect to you, these were not the comments that i expected from you. Your statement that there are disgruntled elements in all sporting arenas and that those who call for Sachin's retirement need to look at his past records - this statement is totally uncalled for. Be fair and ask one question to yourself - Should a player remain in the team just because of his past laurels or on present performance? You will have to accept that Sachin has passed his prime. Tendulkar's presence in the Indian squad is totally insignificant today as others in the team are outshining him. He seems to be more of a liability than an asset to the team. The BCCI is toothless when it comes to issues pertaining to Tendulkar as it seems to be weighed down by his "colossal record". Ah! and one more thing. I have been hearing of this "colossal record" of Tendulkar and his contribution to Indian cricket. Why don't we see the other way around! Indian cricket has also done much to Tendulkar than vice versa. The name, fame, money, wealth, his sprawling bunglow's, endorsements and Rajya Sabha membership are all due to cricket. So, let us not always speak only about Tendulkar's contribution to Indian cricket. As far as Tendulkar's retirement is concerned, he has to go whether he scores or not, in order to pave the way for youngsters. It is better that he retires now with his pride intact.

Sachin no doubt is a talented batsman. He may still score a century, but he is on the wrong side of thirties. Moreover he does not have to prove anything more.
A cricketer is not like an employed person and he can make his own choice on his retirement date.
However, since in India nobody has the guts to drop Sachin from the team, despite his poor form, therefore he must,
unselfishly, decide to retire and open the gate for young players.
As far as Dhoni is concerned,he should himself see the writing on the wall.

I am able to understand that we will keep losing our matches in cricket for at least 20 year since so many sycophants are there. They don't have any shame. It seems that Indian cricket team is their family property. So far as "WE" are concerned in above article its only "WE" who made this greedy fellow so great so WE can ask him to quit.
