There is a famous saying in Hindi that a lamp (diya) burns the brightest when it nears its end but looking at the current form of the greats like Tendulkar one is reminded of the words of T.S.Elliot
This is the way the world ends Not with a bang but a whimper

pls allow him to play man, so that he can score some more centuries and records against bangladesh, zimbabwe and new born test kids.
Tendulkar.. Tendulkar has taken loan of over 500 crores to build properties all over world, bought few islands to enjoy summer holidays with family and invested few hundred millions in other assets. If he listen to public and retire who will pay the loan? public? He has 18 commercial contracts and endorsement and his yearly income is 150 crores. Let him enjoy 3 years so that he can cover his loan and then retire peacefully after that. In the meantime more endoresements and money welcome- sachin

No one has right to question 'The Masters' capability. Especially those who sit out and watch the game. Its really tough at the center and Sachin in consistently performing from past 2 decades. Ups and downs are the parts of everyones life, even yours........ He will strike and strike hard....

I agree with you for some extent but I am clueless why people only questioning Sachin's ability,there are 6 other batsmen in side at least Dhoni,Yuvraj,Kolhi,Gambhir,Sehwag-(Most careless of all)shouls also perform.this is team game.Look at Cook how he played in ahmedabad and then in Mumbai.it's inspirational Inning from Captain.What ur so called Mr Cool did..nothing in Ahmedabad nor in Mumbai
There is little doubt that Ricky pointing and Sachin are the greatest in the game and have trashed the best bowling attacks in the world But They should also introspect and end a wonderful career with dignity and on a high just like rahul dravid or a VVS laxman did !! We would love to see pointing and Sachin go with wonderful records and with head held high BUT THIS IS FOR THEM TO INTROSPECT AND DECIDE

In case of Ricky Ponting, Cricket Australia is going to drop him if he does not perform in the next test. Same cannot be told of the great BCCI. The only wasy Sachin can go on a high is if he plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore... if you know what I mean.
Ricky Ponting should have announced his retirement at the end of series against India in Australia; he would have emerged a true great with a glorious career (not that his career is not in glory now) and a great idol/icon for all cricket fans.
Now, he is facing a similar ignominy he had faced when he was dropped from ODI.
If he can come up with a century in the fast-paced Perth track he would at least save the ignominy.
This does not in any way take away his great accomplishments; who throughout his career has pushed for runs from the first ball of each of his innings without much taking time to settle down (like Greg Chappel); a stroke maker from the word go; succeeding mostly;

Though Ponting's form is not good, the team is performing well & Australia can afford to continue him. Whereas India is not performing well and Sachin is not providing an opportunity for a new player.

Australia (Cricket Board) functions differently (pragmatic); Hence the possibility of Ricky being relieved.
Also, the more he continues to play, the more risk he is inviting to go below a 50 runs average which is not good; particularly for a batsmen who had an enviable average of 59.85 (next only to Bradman) in 2006; when he scored centuries at will.
