time for Sachin to call off

Though I am die hard fan of sachin, I feel that his time is over as a batsman...he should retire...and give a way for young blood like Rahane

This Indian team is average at the best
by Indian on Nov 25, 2012 10:47 PM  | Hide replies

That Number one rating was obtained when Dravid, Laxman, Kumble, Sachin and Sehwag where at prime. Now look at the current India team..

Dhoni- look at his batting record, the big scores came on flat batting pitches, while his keeping is average. Why is he even in the team?

Yuvraj- his record has shown that he can't bat on spinning pitches.

Sehwag- Lot more failures then success of lately

Gambhir- Lot more failures then success of lately

Sachin- Way way past his due date but still in the team..

What makes one think that this team full of non-performing hot headed celebrity millionaires can win against class team?

Test cricket is way too hard work for our rich players

Yes this match has been fixed by umpires! What about zaheer khan given out by paki umpire aleem dar though the bad had not touched the bat or the gloves! What about so many lbw appeals turned down by biased umpires??? shame that the online umpires are not punished for wrong decisions under fixing or bribes done by vested interests??? Why have a apki umpire for such games and not form other countries who have no vested anti-indian interests??? Umpires making bad decisions must be fined all their match fees or double the match fees! and should not be taken for future matches as umpires, shame BCCI is interested i only the money and not for seeing whether the match isplayed under right spirit and in an unbiased manner, what a shame!

Umpiring has been bad throughout the series but wrong decisions were spread out o both the teams' dismissals..Zaheer's was not out but remember the 1st test at Ahmedabad..Samit patel who was in brilliant form in tour matches was given out in both innings lbw to deliveries going outside leg..same was with Broad.

But I agree with you in saying umpires are also a part of fixing and I would say BCCI also is a part of it..BCCI has been opposing induction of technology in this game knowing fully that tech even in worst form makes far less errors than human umpires..and you know the reason for this opposition..I would say this is because induction of technology takes the game out from umpires' plans..BCCI knows that it would be more difficult to fix matches with technology around.
and something abt IPL-it is a drama(like our reality shows on TV which are just stage managed) perpetuated to distract people of this country from real issues facing them and politicians and corporates have an active interest in enacting this drama.

IPL will continue to take center stage but the BCCI must make test cricket a priority also. Just look at the Australian side, who still place so much importance on test Cricket and sticks to the basics. India also needs to stop playing on concrete likes pitches at home and learn how to play on pitches with variable movements. If India can score runs pitches with variable movements, than they can win matches anywhere.

I don't understand what IPL gotta do with it? England, Aussie have their own T20 leagues and still getting better..

Our bigget problem is the attitude of BCCI selctors and players. Team is choosen based on past reptation. Players are not hold accountable for their performance.

Just one exmaple, why Dhoni wasn't forced to play Ranji match for his state team leading in to this series? Dhoni has had a poor batting record over the last couple years then why he himself didn't feel like playing Ranji matches to get some practise?

And guess what he is our captain of the national team...

and it is a good thing that he is our captain of national team...he has brought us more laurels than brick bats...but it is ungrateful people like you who cant see the good things he has done...he shoulders the maximum responsibility manfully without complaining...any other person would have collapsed under the workload that he has...

Dhoni is pure disaster because certified brain dead m0rr000n like you keep worshiping him. He hasn't brought anything by himself, but team did and guess what the team memebrs are getting old or getting out of shape and completely out of form. And the results over last two years reflects that. But ret@rd$ like you will not understand all that.

Asmentioned earlier asking for a spinners wicket is a double edged weapon.Dhoni must have learnt by now.Indian captain had tremendous confidence in his spinners,particularly,R.Ashwin.The batsmen are inconsistent is rather welknown.A 5 day test match has been reduced to a four day duleep Trophy match.what a shame indeed.

Kudos to the English side, they came back well after the last test. India still has a chance but the team needs to pay attention to it's player selection and preparing sporting pitches in the future. India has an excellent record at home but in order to compete overseas, they need to do well on bouncy, fast pitches. Prepare sporting pitches during the domestic matches to groom future players. Otherwise, India will keep losing 8 matches in a row, when travelling overseas. All the best.

Selectors need to take a tough call now
by Amod Karnik on Nov 25, 2012 09:08 PM  | Hide replies

This is the critical juncture where the selectors would have to take the toughest call ever. That call is the sacking of Sachin Tendulkar.

I sincerely hope and pray for him, the team and the country that he has played his last test here. And hence i'am sincerely hoping that Gambhir and Bhajji don't take India to 200 plus cos if that happens, England willl be chasing more than 120 on this pitch and will collapse to 80/90 allout. And if that happens, Sachin will play the next test, maybe score a 60 or a 70 and prolong his torturous career which is threatening to take away the beautiful memories of a great batsman.
The Sachin of today has slowed down, his footwork is labored, his reflexes are almost gone. He should retire with dignity, pride and self respect, otherwise, for the sake of the country, the selectors should take a tough call and end his career.
If that is the way he wants it and is asking for it, that is what he should get, much like Kapil Dev who kept on playing even when he was well past his prime and had to be shown the door.
I hope no one takes offence to my message.

No Offence taken but it seems u r focused more on SRT retirement than Indian cricket team performance. U wrote u r sincerely hoping bhajji and gauti dont last long..thats pathetic..In team game like cricket better performing team always win..Of course u get this neutral view with maturity..Its ok to credit opposite team for better performance rather than bashing one player from one team...Selectors were players themselve and they know their job best..afterall they chose the team who won world cup so they know it better...

it is people like u indian cricket is in bad shape... ur jealousy of sachin sees nothing beyond retirement of sachin... with sachin why not lapeebaj sehwag and gambhir and bhajii and zaheer and yuvraj and dhoni... they all are also failures and bigger failure than sachin in last year or so... but guess they all ur dadz and that why u only want sachin to be sacked and for that will pray even for india loss... well u and ur clan can rest in peace... no one will ever sack sachin and he will retire whenever he wants to...

His last 12 innings have been failures......forget his own high standards, even by mediocre standards he has ailed. his average in the last 12 innings is around 20. Unfortunately, you are a typical idolising, irrational person and hence you cant see the obvious...mark my words, next test is his last test.
And also mark these words of mine...England will win series 2-1 and they will win this test by 8 wickets.

It's irrelevant arguing about Sachin's retirement because he will not make the call anytime soon and the selectors will never push him to do it. Sachin is a great player but he can't beat time. India needs to build a team though, which can compete on flat and non-flat wickets.

Karnik Wht to mark your word for..? U didnt say it before the beginning of the series..?? I am not typical idolising person..But ur scooment show your maturity as a spectator. Why dont u blame it on Shehwag then he dropped cook earlier in this inning. Why dotn u blame it on Ashwin he missed the run out chance then..?? Why blame SRT only..? I am not blaming shehwag or Ashwin becoz i know its team game..and as a mature spectator i have accepted that always better performing team wins 2-1 or 3-0 it just matter of stat..Compare last 12 innings of Gautam , Viru , Dhoni, Raina,Yuvi before this series, or before this match even..then write...and why just 12 innings..?? See last 12 tests ..Stats can be twisted as one wants

i m a great fan of your batting and i will always stick to that but since there is no cricket left in u now u should call it a day.young blood like manoj, rahane and some othe deserving player should be given chances.and in bowling we need to find a proper wicket taking spinner.it's been a long time and we have yet not found a deserving replacement for kumble.there r plenty of cricketer hitting hundreds and taking wickets in domestic cricket now its high time to try them.
