Batsmen let down India
by Mike Teflon on Nov 26, 2012 03:48 AM  | Hide replies

India made a great recovery thro' Pujara and Ashwin in first innings.. However, Sehwag, Sachin, Dhoni, Yuvraj(a misfit for test cricket) are woefully outta sorts..

Yes, Indian bowlers came short on a helpful track, but no reason why their batting should collapse in a heap(in the second essay)..

With England set to bat last in the test match a target of 150 would have given India a fair chance..

Lack of application does India in.. If an outta form Gambhir could do it, then all others could do it as well..

Tingu must be axed and so is Dhobi..

Bowlers and Batsmen both. We were like, Can't Bat, Can't Bowl and that too in Home condition..

Not sure when were we so bad before?

Mike, Dhoni and Yuvaraj are both a misfit for test cricket.
With passage of time, the number of people questioning Sachin's role have now become a majority, and rightly so.
Ashwin and Bhajji are both a big question mark as well. We need to search for a better partner for Ojha.

Harbhajan could have done well if he was given a good deal. Look at Bhajji & Ashwin's figures. Bhajji-21 ovrs, Ashwin-42 ovrs, both 2 wickets. Bhajji was called only after 24 overs passed in the day. Also, he was not allowed to bowl longer spells unlike Ojha or Ashwin. How can you expect him to support Ojha well?

The 2 wickets Bhajji got were tail enders, he was not given much bowling because he did not bowl well.
Not that I am singling out Bhajji, if you see, both Bhajji and AShwin bowled short.

I wish to differ with you my friend..

I'd play Dhoni in the squad for his captaincy skills alone. Let us think of replacement only when we find a better man..

Regarding Ashwin, give him the benefit of doubt, he is still a stupendous bowler and deserves more chances than selfish TINGU.. One bad game doesn't take it away from him.. I'm no Tamil brahmin btw. But 3 cheers to all performing Tamilians and Tamil Brahmis too.. (No bias of any kind whatsoever)

BTW, thanks for your reply..

Yuvraj in a Test team
by Sameer Bhagwat on Nov 26, 2012 12:58 AM  | Hide replies

Its a real joke of selection when you have guys like Yuvraj and Raina playing in the Test team ahead of Rahane, Badrinath and several others who are far beter Test players.

Also Harbhajan what a joke , this guy is clearly past his prime . Even a Rahul Sharma on this pitch would have been better bet.

Imagine what Kumble would have done on this pitch?

kumble i suppose would have went wicketless on this pitch...

in the last year of his playing he took some 29 wickets in 10 tests...compare it with his about 48 wickets in 10 tests//he knew he was not getting wickets and he retired....then we became no. 1 and maintained it for about 2 years.////dhoni achieved all his successes in test cricket without kumble who never played even a single test under dhoni....it was zaheer bhajji and others who kept india no. 1 for that period of time that we were no. 1 NOT kumble who had retired before dhoni became captain....

many people here want to blame dhoni for kumble's retirement...when the truth is kumble retired because he was no longer getting the no. of wickets he used to get...in his last yr as bowler in tests he took only about half the no. of wickets that he took in the previous year in the same no. of test matches...but according to some dhoni played politics by selecting mishra when nothing of that sort happened...then dhoni was supposed to have favored ojha and dropped mishra...the point is it is dhoni bashing that many people want to indulge in for no reason really...they should accept the defeats as well as the victories...

Kumble is a gentleman who retired when he is not in his peak.
Dravid,VVS,SMG,Kapil retired when they feel it is better to retire before told.
Even SRT & Dravid relinquished captaincy when they lost series as captain.
India become no 1 because of the contribution from players & not a single contribution from Dhoni.
It only Dhoni who is still clinging to Captaincy shamelessly even after two white washes.
Harbajan surely past his prime.Dhoni,Yuvi,Kohli,Raina can never find a place in test teams if it is other than India.

excellent pitch...
by Sadhashiv on Nov 26, 2012 12:33 AM

hope all pitches in India r made of the kind similar to this mumbai wicket...

As Gambhir rightly pointed out, it's these kind of wickets which make test cricket interesting....

It would be nice if all wickets in India have this kind of turn and bounce, that would eventually test every batsman's skill and fans too will realize who r the genuine test cricketers and who r flat track bullies...

players like dhoni, sehwag, sachin (these days) only have the capacity to score on dead tracks. The moment there is seam, bounce or spin these players r found wanting....

3 cheers to the curator for producing such an excellent pitch.
