In the given circumstances it is a balanced team, especially when ageing players have either retired (Rahul Dravid, VVVS Laxman) or are out of form (Gautam Gambhir,Virender Sehwag - both of them have not scored big during the past two years - and Sachin Tendulkar - who last hit a ton against Bangladesh when India lost the Test against the minnows).
Yuvraj Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha and Harbhajan Singh are likely to play a big role against spin-scared England which will find it hard to tackle them on tottering pitches.

on indian wicket players like vijay would do well, you will take him to other tours and he will fail. this is pure politics. there should have bene more yong faces. We shoudl consider parthiv patel who has been consistent as our openers are failing. we should also have looked at few fast bowlers. Mr. Patil is not showing any improvement on selection.

My brother unfortunately selectors have to pick up only 15 players. In the given circumstances these are the best choice. Others can wait for a bit of time or do something spectacular somewhere forcing BBCI to take notice.
The prominent non-performers like Sehwag, Gambhir, Harbhajan, Ishant, Murali Vijay get another look-in. The suitability of Yuvraj was never established in Tests earlier, so he gets a place. Plus Zaheer is becoming a liability with frequent breakdowns and less pace. Wonder is this a Test team looking forward or backward??
All the non performers in india england series 2011 or the imm. tour before that (WI) are back Singh Yuvi (flop in eng and in general flop outside indian sc in tests) plus vijay Also Khan Viru was unfit then and again unfit now.
Both Bhajji and Shewag do not deserve inclusion in the team as their performances are so inconcistant these days. Why not we look at so many good players hangingon in line. hvv

I had this gut feeling about the selection committee. Ishant Sharma & Bhajji did not deserve to be selected. However, I am not very sure about Vijay...... He is good in some domestic matches.
But I would have chosen Tiwary in place of Yuvraj......

You and me must be the only persons who say Tiwary in place of Yuvi. clearly long term Yuvi Vijay etc are poor.
