when will Manoj Tiwari be inducted in the team,
after Dhoni retires. Is perfomance the benchmark for selection or nepotism

I am happy if proved wrong, but I feel selection of Yuvi was more to do with emotion than logic :)

Why still sachin when so many young aspiring batting talents in India. He needs to be dropped out to infuse your blood in Indian team.

SACHIN TENDULKAR WILL RETIRE IN 2nd TEST IN BOMBAY!
by Kabeer on Nov 05, 2012 01:49 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin Tendulkar is going to announce his retirement just before he goes to bat in the second innings in the second test at Bombay.

He will not play the 3rd Test in Kolkata.

He would not announce his retirement even when the Mumbai test starts because that announcement shifts focus from test to Sachin and that is not a good sign.

Sachin will announce before the second Indian innings.

That is one of the reasons why the test squad is announced for only 2 tests.

Sachin wants to retire in India and not abroad. I don't know when the next series in India; so he will announce in this tour itself.

He should be dropped & not allowed to take his own time when he is already in decline.

Good selection
by Maihoon Don on Nov 05, 2012 01:49 PM  | Hide replies

Good selection by the new selectors headed by Sandip Patil.

Raina needed to be dropped as he was in the team purely on his friendship with Dhoni. I still doubt Yuvraj in tests but lets give him a final chance.

Good to see M Vijay and Rahane so that Sehwag and Gambhir do not take their opening place for granted. In case, Yuvraj fails, Rahane can be fitted at No.6 also. And if any of the openers fail consistently, Vijay or Rahane can replace them in opening slot.

Select the best on Fitness & Performance - not on Past record
by Mahesh Shanbhag on Nov 05, 2012 01:49 PM

Rahane,Pujara,Virat,Sachin,Yuvraj,Dhoni,Murali,Aswin,Ojha,Umesh,Ishant should be the team for 1st Test.
Some other youngsters should hv been picked instead of Sewhag,Gauti,Harbhajan & Zaheer. They should hv been rested as either they r not fit or out of form.

T20
by atul sharma on Nov 05, 2012 01:43 PM  | Hide replies

Was this the selection for Test series or T20. It looks like IPL all star team because Murali Vijay has never performed in any international format whether it is Test, T20 or ODIs. Strange selection by new selection committee.

@ Atul

He (Murali Vijay) did perform better (relatively) in the limited Test opportunities he got, than Rohit Sharma in the ODIs. Now that Srikkanth is not the Chairman of the selection committee, hope it would not be construed as "biased" selection but based on performance. Rahane also belongs to the same league.
