Tamilnadu produced excellent cricketers like Krish,T.E and Venkat Venkat was the best Off-spinner in the world during his time [ Viv richards himself told that]. And venkat was a fine umpire also.

Krish is a legend. When he played Ranji trophy, he and T.E.Srinivasan played excellent game. unfortunately T.E. could not shine in Test level.
Re: Re: Re: Re: he he he he
by Rangachari on May 22, 2012 12:31 PM
When T.E. went to Australia tour, Lille was afraid of bowling to him. Do you know that?

This will be an awesome T-20 team
1. Chris Gayle 2. Adrian Barath 3. Darren Bravo 4. Dwayne Smith 5. Dwayne Bravo 6. Darren Sammy(c) 7. Kieron Pollard 8. Dinesh Ramdin(w) 9. Andre Russel 10. Kevon Cooper 11. Sunil Narine
Srikanth krishnamachari played against Marshall, Andy Roberts ,Garner and Holding -with ease. All these bowlers were afraid of Srikanth. he is better than Gayle and Veeru.

Bangalore fans are sad not because RCB lost it, but because CSK won 'their' place. This is the worst kept secret.

Come out of the past dude....if you are talking about Srikanth era....only Vivian Richards was the most destructive batsman of all time.
Re: Re: better than Gayle
by westindies on May 22, 2012 11:49 AM
When Srikanth was hit by Wasim Akram bouncer in 1989 Pakistan series, he almost forgot how to bat later. He was kicked out of Indian team after 1992 World Cup.
Re: Re: Re: better than Gayle
by Rangachari on May 22, 2012 11:55 AM
As a player he won the WC in 1983. As a selector also he won a cup now. What a great person he is
Re: Re: better than Gayle

I agree Viv is the greatest. But our Krish is also a great. we should be proud of him. why always priase Viv, Gayle ?
Re: Re: Re: better than Gayle

Srikanth has proved to be third class selector with two consecutive 4-0 test series whitewash under his belt.

Hey man whats wrong with you. Why you are bringing Srikanth here. Then there are hundreds of players in Cricket history, who are more talented and Accomplished than Srikanth.
Re: better than Gayle
by Vasantha on May 22, 2012 11:55 AM
Dont compare Srikanth with Gayle and Veeru. He was utter failure in Tests. How much runs he has has scored in Tests and ODI.
Re: Re: better than Gayle
by Rangachari on May 22, 2012 11:57 AM
he was not a failure in test. because of him, Sunny batted freely at the other end. He was the best partner to sunny gavaskar
Re: Re: Re: better than Gayle
by westindies on May 22, 2012 11:59 AM
Only because of Srikanth, mediocre players like Murali Vijay & Ashwin are playing for India.
Re: Re: Re: Re: better than Gayle

no alternats for Vijay - now only we get Rahane. Krish will give chance to Rahane
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: better than Gayle
by westindies on May 22, 2012 12:05 PM
Ajinkya Rahane is far better & technically well-equipped palyer than Virat Kohli.
Re: better than Gayle
by Rangachari on May 22, 2012 12:01 PM
now there are no fearsome bowlers - but those dayes we had Marshal,Roberts, Joel and Holding. Krish thrashed them all round the ground
Re: Re: better than Gayle
by westindies on May 22, 2012 12:04 PM
He thrashed only in 1983 world cup final. Later WI team toured India & destroyed Indians 5-0 in test series.
Re: better than Gayle
by subhro chakraborty on May 22, 2012 12:03 PM
Srikant was good but Veeru and Gayle are far better players, and Srikant is very inconsistent and is good only during the first 15 overs in the oneday format. If Veeru and Gayle gets 10/10 Srikant will only get 2/10.Srikant is not a match winner and did'nt play long for India. And was never comfortable playing the bowlers, his stats show that.In today's T20 format he would have been a lame goat altogether.
Re: better than Gayle
by Imran Khan on May 22, 2012 12:10 PM
but srikanth was more afraid of the pace bowler Wasim Akram who struck 7 times in a row by claiming and responsible for taking his wicket & becz of this bechara srikant career collapse in a dramatic way.what you think about it.
Re: Re: better than Gayle
by Rangachari on May 22, 2012 12:15 PM
Sachin was moulded by Srikanth in that tour. He is a good player, Mentor and a good selector
Re: Re: better than Gayle
by Rangachari on May 22, 2012 12:18 PM
Sunny Gavaskar was a Great success only after he partnered with Krish. Krish used to trash all the bowlers and Sunny played freely at the other end.
What a killer Chris Gayle is.. But you are expected to that in T20.. but still the best i have seen so far.. but coming to the point it sound bit surprising to me that RCB is out.. they lost on purpose to give way to CSK.. or how can you explain RCB lost chasing the modest total... the Final is in Chennai.. so they had to be there to attract the crowd... i think its Chennai who will be in the finals facing Mumbai Indians again and will loose.. there will be heavy flow of money there.... this is just my personal thought............... because after the heroics of Gayle RCB were favorite to win the IPL and Chennai was not in the list.. so the amount runs in millions..............
Re: It was fixed................................
by abc_xyz abc_xyz on May 22, 2012 11:15 AM
India's most sportive crowd is in Chennai and you dont need a home team to attract a full house. Grow up dude. 1 player can take you only to a certain level. It has to be the team that needs to perform to finish it off.
Re: Re: It was fixed................................
by Ali M on May 22, 2012 11:22 AM
Thats what i am saying.... They needed just 100 Runs that too at a run a ball... There are so many good players in the team.. but still cold not get 100 runs... i said earlier that this is just my thought.. i may be wrong......

Chennai crowds is the worst in supporting other teams. Don't compare. If Chennai do not go to finals you will see empty stands Maniac fans

come on boss,RCB is very Keen to get into the payoffs, but they take DC lightly & Played Badly so they lost.there is no connection for CSK in this.
Re: It was fixed................................
by Orient Mystique on May 22, 2012 12:00 PM
Another of those half baked pundits jumping to illogical conclusions. This guy doesn't even know that CSK will face MI in the eliminator and the winner of this will play the loser of the qualifier between DD and KKR. So there is absolutely no chance of a final between CSK and MI. Assuming CSK reaches the final, they can only face either DD or KKR in the finals.
Think before you leap or you shall have serious dents.
Re: Re: It was fixed................................

ok.. you r rite.. sorry about that.. just a mistake.. but still i think there is some chances of fixing happening..........
Re: Re: Re: It was fixed................................
by abc_xyz abc_xyz on May 22, 2012 12:17 PM
you are totally wrong. Going by your logic, Chennai should have easily won against Punjab, because on paper they are a much better side.
RCB lost that game due to the following:
1. Gayle playing like a mass fellow against world number 1 bowler Dale Steyn, when the target was just 130 odd rus.
2. Kohli trying to show-off with another six after hitting one, when the equation read 30 in 25 balls.
3. Kohli sending our evergreen hero Zaheer Khan at No7 ahead of sensible Vinay Kumar, who thought he had the capability to hit 5 sixes in 5 balls against Steyn and win the game for RCB.
4. Amit Mishra and Steyn bowling at their menacing best.
5. Most importantly Pressure Do or Die situation.
There is no match fixing here..Its all imagination. And DC are a much better team that what it looks like from the points table. They lost many games because of dropped catches, unlike Pune, whihc was totally junk.
Re: Re: Re: Re: It was fixed................................
by Orient Mystique on May 22, 2012 12:31 PM
good analysis abc xyz. Just want to add one point. DC is perhaps the only team in IPL history to have lost three matches in one season while defending a total of 190 plus. Also, they would have done much better if they had the bowling resources to complement Mishra and Steyn. The likes of Veer Pratap, Gony, AA Reddy etc. were very ordinary to say the least. But most importantly, Sangakkara did not show worthwhile leadership qualities and could not inspire the team.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: It was fixed................................
by abc_xyz abc_xyz on May 22, 2012 12:47 PM
Yes Orient Mystique. You are spot on.
I just can't understand those semi-baked brains who say the whole IPL was fixed just to let CSK into the play-offs, as BCCI President, Selection Committe Chairman and the Indian team Captain belong there and the finals are scheduled at Chepauk.
Re: Re: Re: It was fixed................................
by Orient Mystique on May 22, 2012 12:26 PM
Mr. Ali M, if fixing was to be done, do you think it made sense for CSK to lose to MI in Mumbai when MI needed 14 runs from 3 balls and Hilfenhaus gave them exactly what they needed? If there was fixing to help CSK reach the finals, did they need to lose a match to the lowly Pune Warriors and another to the struggling KXIP? When Vijay Mallya is looking for something desperately to shore up his failings in aviation business, will he agree for his team to lose to DC to help CSK qualify for the play offs? Rajasthan Royals did well for much of the first half of the tournament. Would they lose to DC intentionally and then do badly against MI to fail to qualify?
Fixing is a conjecture of the weak minds, who cannot tolerate India coming out blazing with something like IPL involving millions of dollars.
Re: Re: Re: Re: It was fixed................................
by abc_xyz abc_xyz on May 22, 2012 12:32 PM
I just dont understand why morons call this as CSK's luck and blah blah blah..If you analyse all the teams in the competition, accoring to me, only Delhi and Kolkata deserved to be in Play-Offs. Teams like Mumbai,Banglore and Hyderabad were heavily dependent on 1/2 players and wanted them to perform everytime. Luckily for Mumbai, Malinga performed well and Rohit Sharma was decent and they are through. For bangalore Gayle won them half of the games, De-vilears the rest, and when both failed in the last game, they lost. For Hyderabad, inspite of Steyn's deadly bowling and Shikkar Dhavan's consistant batting, they lost games due to their pathetic ( I can't find a worse word) club-level fielding. Pune had none...No team effort and no individual stars and predictably finish last.
On the other hand, if you observe, CSK, RR and KXIP played more lika team, with everyone contributing at some point or other. And among them, CSK were clearly the best. I can't say if CSK deserved to play in play-offs..but I can vouch RCB just didn't deserve it.
Another point is the scheduling, Chennai finished the league games well before the rest and had to wait for other results. Had it been the other way round, with Bangalore finishing their games before Chennai and Chennai playing Punjab in their last outing, the same crowd would have praised Chennai for playing well when it matters. Its all phychological here.
Bottom line: There is no luck, the top 4 who qualified were the best among the 9.
