i still remember 1998-2003.

If you are not above 20 I will tell u the real Scenario, when kissan-jam (that was his famous add) boy dravid comes to bat

people used to switched off tv sets & go to study or on lunch or to sleep or atleast to take a leak.

absolute zero voice in spectators most of them go out to have lunch.

fielders used to stand idle for hours.then Some start excrsizing, warming up Some are chatting with audiences at boundry line. Few are keeping their one hand on chin & supporting the elbow of that hand with other hand.Others are just watching helplessly.

comentrators yawning & speaking about history of ground & surroundings & other general knowlage stuff by diverting the mind of people from what is happening on ground.

bowlers slowing up with shorter run-ups. Trying to ball differently but all in vain. At last leaving on dravid & thier luck.

Umpires watching with "Man at funeral expressions."

Non-strikers most of the time waiting their turn to bat & standing idle. Not even bother to look at bowler or batsman but do other stuff like checking the strok of bat, foot lining.

Next batsmans not ready, pads scattered around, gloves on ground. Drinking water or chatting with fellow players at dressing room like no match is there.

After bowler Only busy man was wicket-keeper. Collecting most of the ball like practise sessions with full concentration. Shouting loudly everytime to gather attention from

Sorry its truth.Indian selectors continued playing him only on the basis of performance of one series world cup 1998 in which other indian batsmans failed. He scored with average of 39 & strike rate of 72 (his best at that time & may it be till date in any series).

But truth also is after immense competition from Yuvi, Gambhir, sehwag, vvs he improved a lot aft 2003. & became a Great Batsman.

Hats off to dravid. He is one of the best test player. Not only in indian cricket but in worldcricket.

wish you a happy new life.

Now please dont start abusing me. I see most of Indians forget reality when they are high on emotions. We should accept & respect him as he is. His defensive innings doesnt make him anything bad but a great Indian Wall.

he reminds me babu nadkarni who could bowl consistently and keep one end safe he could bowl over after over with out giving any run at all and picking up wickets and so is our dravid who would keep one end safe and could be reliable

I guess Rahul Dravid has quit after one bad series in Australia and despite having such a good record, he quit for the sake of pride & honour.

Hope G_a_y Rahul also follows his footsteps soon.

I thought that Dravid and Sachin will play their last Test series vs England at home in Nov 2012 and by winning that will be right time to quit.
That was the case with Mcgrath and Warne , the two legends who last played together in an Ashes and won it convincingly while prior to that the legends had seen Ashes lost in england.
So England series could have been the perfect farewell.
Dravid has chosen this moment and he is quite right as well

Retirement
by superstrongbody on Mar 10, 2012 10:32 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin made a stunning remark yesterday when he heard about Rahul's retirement that he 'would miss him in dressing room and on ground'. This is a clear indication that Sachin will stay as long as he wishes. He knows well that BCCI will never dare to drop him even if he scores five ducks in a row. He still thinks that he is too young to hang his boot. He has successfully killed the prospect of Pujara and other youngsters for money and fame. Dravid by quitting has shown to world that he is is much above Sachin in all fields. Bravo Dravid, you will be hailed as hero for ever in Indian Cricket.

Ign0ramus George- The very surname Dravid clearly indicates he is not a "thread" to use your expression. But general knowledge or awareness was never a quality of exploited altar boys such as George!
