Blame BCCI
by ancil george on Mar 05, 2012 12:31 PM

BCCI is to be balmed for the mess that we find today. They are not answerable to anyone. To start with the team should be called BCCI team and not INDIAN team. BCCI have no right to use the nations name on their private team(when they act like a private club) .Why is the Govt allowing BCCI to use India in their team name?

Where is Jadeja ,another Dhoni favorite, in your list? Dhoni and his club mates in Chennai Super Kings, viz Raina &Jadeja will always make the Indian team so long as N Srinivasan is the President of BCCI.Performance is not relevant to their selection! H

BLAME IT ON BCCI / SELECTORS

Please see the following analysis in yesterday's " The Hindu" titled " We did not deserve to be in Finals.
1. We finished with the lowest batting average of 28.01 and highest bowling average of 38.94
2. It's not a coincidence that our best batting rate is at Adelaide and Hobart. These are batsman friendly.
3. Our batting capability is ruthlessly exposed at SCG or MCG. Our batting is simply ripped apart by their home pacemen.
4. The top batting average of 53.28 by Kohli is seconded by Gambhir at 44. But Gambhir's performance was only at Adelaide and Hobart and not in other pitches.
4. Only Dhoni with an average of 51.25 has performed well in all our three batting collapses against Australia. He is our potential match finisher.
5. The most vitally important for our domestic cricket to set up competition is to prepare right tracks. Otherwise, any success away from our sub-continent will be bleak.
Our Selectors should at least now wake up and revamp our team for Asia Cup without having to elaborate on the need of omission of SRT and others, and giving chance to promising youngsters.
Let Asia Cup does not end with another humiliation and laughing Stock for Team India

If Dhoni had used his brain and played for the situation he could have taken his team to the finals easily. In that tied match against Sri Lanka Dhoni had the capacity to score quickly but unnecessarily played over defensive strokes to take the match to final over and was responsible for the result. If we had won that match we could have moved to the final easily.

Good analysis therein.
It was a surprise that Manoj Tiwari was not looked at and remained a mere passenger when all were failing.
Some pitches need to be prepared in higher altitude centres, which promote bounce, speed and swing.
Players should be trained there as part of their preconditioning before they tour. If such pitches are prepared in our other centres too, that will truly help the batsmen and the bowlers to improve their skills.
Look at the consistency with which the Australian bowlers pitch their deliveries on and of the off stump line, usually at good length spot along with judicious use of the short pitch rising ball, which more often is the nemesis of our batsmen.
The amount of time our batsmen are drawn into a drive and a nick, shows the Aussie bowlers ability. Our bowlers lacked that consistency. Some of them were brilliant in patches. But they need to be far more accurate than that.
The rotation should apply even to failing youngsters then only some new talents may come up.
Batting technique, as rightly pointed out in the article, needs to be seriously looked into by are batsmen. They are all professionals and I suppose that they must be deeply disturbed themselves to take this failure lightly. Success in the subcontinent needs to be translated into success in overseas playing centres. I hope we regain the glory again.I wish the players and the selectors well.
We need a team of focused individuals driven to achieve the cause. They may or may not be good frien
