Infact he was lucky to get a well settled team captained by Ganguly, Dravid and Kumble. And lady luck favoured him in such a way that India did not play any overseas tour for about 3 years, except for NZ, when he started his captaincy career. One overseas tour against a good side exposed his captaincy. He is not a great captain.

ganguly was lucky to get a well settled and successful team captain by azhar...it was azhar who who created the indian team consisting of sachin, dravid, laxman, ganguly himself, bhajji, kumble etc. and ganguly just reaped the benefits of it...
it was obvious that all indian players, other than gambhir, were competing for paid-failures funded by anti-india billionaires abroad. having won match for the country, they have sold the second for money. after politics, education, medicine and law, sport is also getting competitivesly commercialized, in this infortunate country.
The coach needs to tell them that physical fitness is also part of international cricket.Sharma can't bend & keep getting bowled due to lazy approach while Ashwin can't decide to run or not between the wickets.
used to ride on luck and is not a brave guy accpeting the faults . instead he is putting up lame excuses one after another and agencda is to protect non performers like rohit sharma , zaheer etc and continue . perhaps a share of their prize money goes to his pockets. who knows? it is all business there. It was a pathetic performance for sure.
