First Innings score
by pannerselvam elango on Jan 23, 2012 05:22 PM

If India fails to put up a considerable score in the first innings,it is sure it will be a white wash. All depends how on India fares in the first innings.

Team India

I am proud of India and being an Indian. I am not criticizing Indian team, but just scribbling down the facts.

The fact is that we do not have committed players - in cricket, who could win matches. Its all hype created by fans and media and there is no great player in Indian team as of now at least. Just check the statistics of these GREATEST BATSMEN... their major chunk of scores are on flat, super slow wickets with extremely favourable conditions. They have not been consistent even under favourable conditions and once a while would score big 100/200/300 and thats done for one year. For one to be called great, he has to consistently perform at highest standards..that too consistently, barring occasionally being out of form... have we seen this calibre in any of our greats? I do not have to spell out more but the past statistics/history would prove that. SO, WE INDIANS MUST BE PREPARED TO SEE EVEN ANOTHER WHITEWASH - OR KANGAROO-WASH - in this series and many more such results in the days to come. This is a fact which we must accept.

Now, even look at our bowlers. Even under favourbale conditions, our quick bowlers bowled as if they did not know how and where to bowl. Giving away easy runs through poor bowling coupled with poor fielding put more pressure on OUR GREAT BATSMEN as well. So, as a team, we must be prepared for more WHITE WASH in Tests, ODIs and T20s. Do not say that this team is capable of winning ODIs and T20s...

well this is not the ODI team. ODI will not have Laxman, Dravid or Tendi mostly, rather Raina, Virat at number 3 and Rohit make a significant difference.

Coma Indian cricket patient to die soon
by powerful Goldstar on Jan 23, 2012 05:20 PM

We Indians, media and public will get only what we deserve. When Sehwag did pyrotechnics against poor West Indies, we lifted him to the top. When we did badly in England, we didnt learn. So nothing's gonna change. India will lose the 4th Test too - only question is will it be a matter of 3 days or 4 days. Irrespective of being below average or poor performers, Sehwag and Dhoni manage to retain themselves on the team. Both are bringing shame to Indian cricket by repetitively non performing and denying oppurtunities for younger players. Sehwag has made lot of money through IPL and Dhoni by ads. Both of them dont want or feel the need to exert themselves for the grace of Indian cricket. They dont have any commitment. Both of them need to be dropped immediately. Ideal way to go about is to prepare both fast bouncy and slow pitches in India at different venues and prepare Indian batsmen to be adaptive to different kinds of bowling. Recruit athletic well built and energetic young people as future cricketers. Identify promising young fast bowlers and train them. But the BCCI led by Shameless N. Srinivasan will never learn neither do the shameless bunch of selectors. All of them should be dumped from the board and panels. Non-performers should be quickly identified and rested. Then only Indian Cricket will improve. Stop patronising Dhoni or Sehwag pyrotechnics on flat home grounds. Prepare good quality fast pitches. Be ready to experiment. Or Indian cricket will be dead soon.

Making things clear !!
by powerful Goldstar on Jan 23, 2012 01:35 PM  | Hide replies

I have read some comments from fellow readers - asking for challenging England or South Africa or Australia to come to India and play against Spin. Past statistics gives the best answer to them. Players from England, SA or Aus are not afraid of spin. They play spin much better than how Indian players play pace. Compare away-series statistics of India against Aus, SA or England and then comment folks

India won a test series in England in 2007, England has not a test series in India since 1980s.

Australia has not won a test match in India since 2004.

South Africa drew the test series in India, by beating a depleted in Indian test team (where, Wriddhiman Saha had to play as a specialist batsman, because others were injured).

Compare statistics of how Australia and South Africa have performed abroad (not in India) against how India has performed abroad. It will give you the answer

Huhumba Lulumba:

a) South Africa has drawn thrice. Don't tell me India was always "injured" against South Africa.

b) Australia has beaten Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka last year. We haven't.

c) How many "whitewashes" have we accomplished in India? THAT is the best benchmark of who dominates visiting teams...

Totally not-capable weak team - come home without further disgrac
by powerful Goldstar on Jan 23, 2012 01:11 PM  | Hide replies

Would request the media not to boast further about this totally uncapable, weak team. Its better they call-off quits before the Adelaide test and board flight back to India. Arrange matches only against Bangladesh or West Indies and that too only on home dead slow pitches. Never go abroad. Then Sehwag, Sachin and company can thrash the opposition and improve records. BCCI can be happy too. N. Srinivasan, laddoo broke in your mind, eh ??

India has never played a test match against Bangladesh in India.

India defeated West Indies in West Indies last year.

In 2010, when Australia toured India, they too, were whitewashed.

Compare statistics of how Australia and South Africa have performed abroad (not in India) against how India has performed abroad. It will give you the answer. You are considering only how Aus or SA have performed in India. Aus have won several series in SA and England. You are obsessed with Indias dead slow pitches

Take ALL the series we've played at home since 1932. Count how many "whitewashes" we have accomplished against visiting teams.

Come back and report...

Whitewash? try this instead
by IM Naanu on Jan 23, 2012 01:08 PM

The Indian team members should take some (sorry, lots of) extra sunscreen (white) war paint and daub it liberally over their faces , and eyelids, and slink back home early and pass unrecognised. This way, the OZzies need not have to go through the trouble of drubbing the visitors so shamelessly again.

If I am jobless, they you are also the same - reading my comments and having time to reply. Stop bluffing. Even England or South Africa or Australia will lose like how India is doing. Just go back and check statistics from 1990's and keep mum, man
