if players of quality like dravid and sachin struggles you can't expect other young guns to perform well in strange and un popular conditions for any player for that matter

Kohli struggled intially and got runs later.Aswhin was never under pressure peformed well with the bat.rest are all struggling. It's about the form of the players not the experience.

Parthiv got enough chances against West Indies, and he failed, I am surprised how he made it in the Indian team for Tri-Series,
Dinesh Karthik to got plenty of chances in the past.

Let Dravid keep
by Sudip Datta on Jan 18, 2012 12:37 PM  | Hide replies

Let us take one extra batsman and have Dravid keep. Anyway the ball is not reaching the keeper (will be more so in Adelaide).

Dravid is 38..It'll be strenous on his knees sqatting and getting up repeatedly in his role as a wicketkeeper

You want Dravid to make a century each time, u want him to keep each time, u want him to open the innings whenever u want, u want him to consolidate the innings each time (with any person in the non-strike end), u want him to guide the middle order, you want him to rotate the strike with tail enders and see that they remain not out...... What are the 7 other batsmen doing?

Cricket is a game of batting, bowling, good fielding and smart activities with proper health.

.. and that's why Ganguly engaged him in wicket keeping since he is not fit for modern days cricket any more.

As if ganguly was fit for modern day cricket. He was a pathetic fielder who took ages to get moving on the field and now he sits in the commentary and talks about the fielding skills of others.

I would not have asked had Dravid been scoring centuries or batting for hours. This is going to be his last match anyway, so let him do some good service by allowing an extra batsman plus Ashwin. And anyway wicketkeeping won't bother him much. As I said, the ball won't reach him anyway.

they will perform now.
by Mr Infinity on Jan 18, 2012 12:28 PM

Now while MSD sitting out suddenly these guys will perform. Sehwag, Gambhir getting runs. Bowlers getting wickets. May be even a century from Big 3 batsmen (anyway last match of the series, obvious place for VVS to perform). We may end up playing for 5 days or even achieve a draw!!! :)

No, that doesn't mean we have a split in our team. ;)

Saha is a better batsman than Rohit Sharma. He can keep wickets- Its another plus for Indian team. With his presence we can win next test.

New ones to warm the benches
by Chandran KR on Jan 18, 2012 12:07 PM  | Hide replies

Even one who is in the team is getting a rare opportunity to play. Just imagine, how many youngsters would get the rare opportunity if the Big Four is asked to go. At least the youngsters would love to be in the benches.

Known BCCI methodolgy
by Jiju on Jan 18, 2012 12:02 PM

If Saha clicks: He did well, we can choose between Parthiv Patel or Saha to warm the benches.
If Saha fails: We tried Saha for 1 match, he failed. Dhoni is miles ahead of Saha (forgetting that they played Saha only once).

In any case, Dhoni's position will NOT be changed, thanks to BCCI.
