dhoni as a captain
by kaala bandhar on Jan 15, 2012 01:48 PM

there are several factors to be looked in before one can be called as the most successful captain.its just not the victories alone or the success% a cricket captain. One shd also see the era at which hes captaining.Dhoni has performed well as captain and one cannot take away the credit from him but on the overseas fron he falls under the same category as any other indian captain to win overseas frequently.hes has captain an indian team during post invicible period of aussies and a SA team which has nt been the same as it used to during aussies invincible period.but its doesnt mean one can take away the credit of dhonis captaincy.the winning % of other teams also have increased post aussies invincible period.yes dhonis to his creidt has t20 and wc triumph under his credit.the nos of drawn test macthes also have reduced in recent times where most of the test matches produce results which aslo makes his winning % more.May be one has to wait and see after dratsic changes are made into the indian team and how dhoni takes it fwd from there.just like wat clarke has bee doing for aus by leading from the front during new aus team.Dhoni can stil lconitnue as a captain with young lads in the team and and see hw he groom them which wd reflect his rean capabality as a leader.Lets wait and watch wat the selectors have to say.

Your best batsman won us the England series 4-0, and the australian series 3-0. and he still has 12 years or cricket left, not 1-2 years.

who won this test series for Aussie ?

Once you find out the answers...you will understand why our best batsman could not win this series for us.

grow up dude.yes sachin is a legend no doubt in that.now indian team has to look ahead into future and not stick on the same team.sachin has ahcived a lot and he has nothing more to prove or achieve.but from now on if he is still going to be retained at what cost when indian team is looking ahead to groom a young futuristic team

Sachin is still the best he retain his place for next 1 or 2 year while someone is groomed for his place.
While this series has clear shown us that both VVS and Dravid are not the players they used to be...so they go

Sponsors have a role in selecting team
by biswanath roy on Jan 15, 2012 01:37 PM

indian cricket is ruled by money, & here comes the role of sponsors, IPL team owners, these worthies would definitely like their players to be in the team, since they have invested heavily on IPL, BCCI,& the players. Lax man , & Dravidian have hardly any supporters in these ranks so if they are made to sit out it would not be a surprise to me. Indian cricket ruled by pawar reeks of money.

Enough is enough
by Sachin Joshi on Jan 15, 2012 01:33 PM  | Hide replies

Bring more youngsters before it's too late. We won 20-20 world cup with a team of complete youngsters because they ready to give their life on the ground. Nobody gave them a chance but it showed us what determination, aggression and hunger to succeed can achieve. Umesh Yadav and Kohli have performed better than the seniors. Sachin, Laxman, Dravid, Sehwag think that they can play cricket for eternity but it clearly shows that their reflexes have slowed, their running between the wicket and fielding is pathetic. And to beat teams like Australia, we need to beat them in every department and have to take the smallest of opportunities. The players need to be better than their opponents every second of the match to have any chance of beating them.

you are completely mistaken. No young Indian batsman has the technique of playing on green tops. Moreover, this is not 2008. Now IPL is there. They really do not need to give their life for test matches.

It's absolutely rubbish to say no young Indian batsmen have the technique without giving them a chance. What have Dravid and Sachin achieved on this tour with their "technique"? And where is the "technique" of Dhoni, Laxman and Sehwag? They are also capable of playing only on Indian pitches.

strategy for the 4th game...
by Gorango Thakurta on Jan 15, 2012 01:33 PM

Australia clearly did their homework and knew exactly how to get each Indian batsman out (e.g., Dravid bowled 5/6 times). Man-to-man they were quicker, stronger and smarter than the Indians.

Now that the series is lost, India should start afresh. Playing the old stars again, is basically giving them a chance to redeem their spineless performance and making personal milestones. Also, why would you go into battle with a gun that is known to fail?

IMHO, India should rest Dravid, Laxman, Dhoni and Vinay Kumar; and play Rahane, Sharma, Saha and Ojha in those spots.

But hey, I am a common man. Who listens to the common man in India?

Some new players who must be selected
by Sachin Joshi on Jan 15, 2012 01:30 PM

Bowlers -
- Dinda
- Varun Aaron
- Deepak Chahar

Batsmen
- Pujara
- Rahane
- Rayudu

Keeper
- Parthiv Patel

We don't lack in talent. Selectors are afraid to drop Sehwag, Laxman, Dravid, Dhoni and Sachin. This is a second great opportunity for them to drop them and give chances to youngsters. This should have happened right after England mauling.

Dhoni outside india- biggest liability
by ASHISH KUMAR on Jan 15, 2012 01:26 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni test average outside
In WI 2006, 24
In SA 2006, 26
In AUS 2007, 17.62
In SLK 2009 17.5
In SA 2011, 35.8
In WI 2011- 19.5
( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury).
In Eng 2011- 28.5 (last series)
In present Aus series- 23.0
Also dhoni after playing 27 T-20 intl has not scored a single fifty, no match winning inning, no MOM & pathetic strike rate of 105 (one of the lowest for any batsman in T-20 at his batting position)
In ODI overseas also he is a big failure as batsman who never perform when require due to limited batting ability & has hardly won any important ODI outside india with his batting.
He is a flop wicketkeeper also in last 3 series where dropped many catches.
He has no overseas century outside subcontinent in any format of game after playing 7 yrs of cricket while even batsman like kumble/agarkar has overseas century batting at no.9.
He is the biggest liability as a batsman in Indian team for lat 7 yrs.
Dhoni Overseas test captaincy record- Win-5, Loss- 10, Draw-06
Win includes Bng, WI, NZL, Slk

Dhoni is best
That’s why doing rest.
hehehe
