Dhoni works for short format of game
by emerson ponraj on Jan 10, 2012 12:54 AM

He is a good captain. However his skills , attitude and mentorship would work effective for an attacking format of game ( 20-20 , ODI ). We need people like Dravid mentoring the team for tests

Remember what happened in the previous tour....

Australia included Shaun Tait in the team for the WACA test expecting the pitch to be super-quick, but it pitch turned out to be a batting paradise. Tait was wayward (if that is the right word) and India won the match.

Australia makes pitches which suites them
by Chaturchuramoni Chatterjee on Jan 09, 2012 02:59 PM  | Hide replies

Australia's strength is pace bowling, so they make wickets which suites their pacers. So why we criticize BCCI when they make wickets which suits our spinners ?

@Chatur: Hi Chatur Alias 'Graeme Swann'..... Good to see you..!!!
Except for WACA, and Brisbane for a certain extent, no pitch in Australia is pace-friendly. They are perfect sporting wickets with something for everyone. Batsmen with good technique and footwork would flourish. And bowlers - both pacers and spinners - if they are equipped enough would take wickets and keep the scoring under control.
That is not the case with the pitches which the BCCI prepares.

Who else would score a 80 and get out of pressure in the present line up ?

People who critizice why Sachin, should understand that, none of these batsmen could score a 85 score in this series so far....and sachin is the closest to get there. If he should be dropped, all the remaining ones should be dropped as well.

last time we won because we batted well and scored 330 in 1st innings - Dravid 93.Sachin 71 and then bowled out Aus for 212. This time we crossed 300 only 3 times in 16 innings and conceded 500 scores 3 times already last 16 innings. So things are not looking good either from batting or bowling perspective

Time to replace Old Guys and Bring new faces
by Kannan sri on Jan 09, 2012 01:42 PM  | Hide replies

Its right time to bring new Batsman in Indian Team. Replace Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Laxman and Dhoni and Bring new talents.Allow People to get themselves set and play the game.Bring in Abhinav Mukund, Chateswar Pujara, Rohit Sharma, Badrinath into the team. Train batsman in Bouncy Pitches Like what you have in Durban or Perth. That will help Team India better Chances.Dont rely on Fletcher or Simphons [the coaches] Bring in the best talent. Bring somebody like Brain Lara / Mark Waugh for Batting[ like Kirsten, who was fresh for international coaching and proved what he was capable of ] and Glenn McGrath / Gillespie for Bowling coach who can train Indian Bowlers the Line length and Swing to Scare any batsman in the world. Training can make wonders[Eg. Warne, hope few remember , his first test was against India and his match figures 1 /206]. Talent is not a problem in India . Way of Training and Type of Wickets are problematic. If you resolve this, Team India will definitely become a World Champions in all 3 formats of the game..

Ambati Rayudu from Hyderabad can play the role of A Batsman Wicket Keeper as Dravid Did.But the major thing here is how you are going to mould these people to International standards ?

Badrinath played 2 tests and scored 63 runs in 3 innings, but more importantly totally out of place against SA on flat batting wickets in India. On a wicket where India scored 643/6 including 4 centurions, Badrinath scored 1. He is one of the several players who can be called Ranji kings but don't belong to test cricket. We had have several players in the past who scored heavily in domestic games but did not succeed in tests. Some names are P Sharma, B Patel, A Mankad.
