Let me make it clear about sachin vs bradman
by ponga on Feb 28, 2012 08:46 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin is the greatest of all times & bigger than bradman because bradman just played in two countries and on limited number of grounds. Sachin has scored centuries everywhere and played more number of times and on different pitches facing variety of bowlers in his long era. Respect him

Sachin needed to be kicked out of the team in 2000 when he performed badly for an year or more when he was made captain. His glory is the result of selector politics. if it was any other country, he would have been shown the exit long back

Ur a id!0t... Sachin has 1 Man of match in every 7 ODI innings. Thats a world record. That means he is the most performing batsman alive. So keep ur opinion

Correct. Sachin has played against the might of Kenya, Bangladesh, Namibia against bowlers like Maharoof, Mortaza, Herath, who strike fear among the batsmen. Even his highest score was against mighty bangladesh outside India. Forget Lara, ponting, even Bradman is nothing infront of him.

Comparison of Sachin versus Cricketing greats !!
by Against Fools on Feb 28, 2012 08:39 PM  | Hide replies

If we compare Sachin versus Viv Richards, Sobers, Bradman etc, we can readily see that their performances had some effect to their teams winning overseas. But with a so much glorified Sachin in the team, why we are not able to win a Test series in Australia or South Africa ? Today again, it has been proved that India doesnt need the baggage of Sachin to win. Youngsters like Kohli and Raina are firing on all cylinders. Who knows, if we had kicked out Sachin and given some new youngsters chance, we would have got some exciting cricketers who can be assets to the country for another 5-10 years. Intelligent section of the public needs to understand this. They need to shift their attitude from blind cricket idol worshipping to the recognition of facts. Sachin can never be compared to even Ponting who is an agile and aggressive fielder and fighter. But excluding the one off Sharjaha encounter and a couple of CB series matches against weak Aus Team that didnt have Mcgrath or other fiery bowlers due to injury did some pyrotechnics. Has ever Sachin took India to victory on a crucial match in a do or die situation. He would easily gift his wicket and go away. Does anybody remember the 1996 semi final against Srilanka. Likewise whenever we want Sachin to stand there and deliver he will fail. He was never a match winner nor can be. He does not have a single instance in his long 23 years of cricketing career where he single handedly took team to victory. Shame on you, blind Sachin fans

sachin has around 65 man of the match awards...1 in almost every 7 games he plays..by far the best MOM average...

quite evidently in one day internationals he has influenced the result of the game extremely strongly far more no. of times than anyone else.

Well, A Man of the match against Australia in Australia is not exactly same to a MOM award against New Zeland in Nagpur. Play for 23 years, even an average batsman will get a lot of MOM awards.

Short comings of Sachin versus great Match winning Fighters !!
by Against Fools on Feb 28, 2012 08:25 PM  | Hide replies

Has Sachin ever carried India to the shores of victory like Kohli did against Srilanka today ?
It remains a fact that though Sachin has many records to his name, whenever the country wanted him to stand in the middle and deliver a match winning knock, he had come cropper. Today when Kohli came to the ground, I had just in my mind that perhaps Kohli would win this game for India. But you cannot have the same trust with Sachin many years ago or even now. Thats the difference. But the cricketing community in India is so naive that they worship Sachin or Sehwag as Gods once they do some pyrotechnics on non-important matches against low lying teams like West Indies or Zimbabwe. This is the bane of Indian cricket. Indian cricketing public doesnt seem to recognize real stars and keep worshipping old horses. When will they learn ?

Yes , I can tell you in sharja Sachin scored two back to back centuries and won the trophy for India .Today for example the start was important and was given by Shewag and Sachin .There are many pitfalls all the same we won .Also let us not forget our shameful performance all the last few months in tests - the real cricket.

Could have opened with Rohit Sharma and Gambhir
by UnQuestionable Cricket on Feb 28, 2012 07:43 PM  | Hide replies

In place of Sehwag and Sachin, India could have opened with Rohit Sharma and Gambhir. This would have provided good oppurtunity to a young player. Sachin and Sehwag should be kicked out of the team. Once in a bluemoon they shine which is not good for the country. Today also it was becos of Kohli we won not becos of Sachin. But Sachin fanatics in this forum wont agree to that.
