If we look at Jadeja, he has manage to take only one wickets in 40 overs in the CB series. India needs 5 bowlers with a E/R rate less than 5.0 and a bowling SR of about 5.5 to 6 overs.
Even though Jadeja is a brilliant fielder, he cannot overcome his inability to take wickets. Chasing 290 in Australia is chasing 340 in the sub-continent. Hence the bowling performance is below par.
Both Irfan Pathan and Jadeja cannot be in the same bowling attack because Jadeja is a genuine allrounder in Indian conditions.
A better option is Rahul Sharma along with Ashwin. India needs to chase 260 or defend 260 and anything higher is very dangerous. With Yadav having problems with his E/R rate, the better bowling attack is
Zaheer, Vinay, Irfan, Ashwin and Rahul Sharma
This is not a great fielding unit because of the absence of Jadeja but it raises the quality of the bowling attack to defend or chase a total of 260.

Agreed. Jadeja doesn't contribute with bat either... so fitting Irfan in place of Jadeja and Rahul in the place of costly Umesh may be better option. Of course if they are crazy about 4 fast bowlers (three fast bowlers for the sake of it) then it should be Ashwin who should sit out since Raina can chip in with off spinners almost at the same level of success as ashwin. Rahul is genuinely good and should be in the team.

Ashwin has been a good spinner and too many part time bowlers makes it unpredictable as to what they have to defend or chase
its high time to estimate the word performance, No laurels have won matches, its performance that needs to be given the due credit, choose the performing eleven who can win matches
Its high time Sehwag decides that he scores big if he needs a plce in the Indain team, past Laurels cannot win matches for the present nor for the future, stray performances cant keep u going in the team
Why do bowlers keep talking about feeling about taking Tendulkar's wicket?
Recently everyone who has taken Tendulkar's wicket keep saying "Happy to take Tendulkar's wicket". For example in today's match Kulasekara took Tendulkar's wicket and in the after match conf he says he is happy.
Lots of other people such as James Pattison, Ben Hilfenhaus, Ryan Harris etc they all have said the same thing. I'm not sure why are thinking that taking Tendulkar's wicket is like winning an oscar or a grammy award? There is nothing in it. If you feel the same way when you take Virat, Raina or Rohit's wicket then it is different, since they have ability to change the game and win the matches. Tendulkar is not a threat anymore. As a bowler you don't need to put additional effort to take his wicket. He will throw it at some point all by himself.
So bowlers need to stop having this false satisfication and aim something higher.
Re: Is Tendulkar wicket a Prized wicket anymore?
by Desi on Feb 21, 2012 11:02 PM
Actually it is better for team India for the bowlers to put Tendulkar on a pedestal because the bowlers will not focus that much on other Indian batsmen which may prove good for Raina Kohli, etc.

if anyone doesnt perform for 4 matches then will it be a big sin???
Re: Re: Is Tendulkar wicket a Prized wicket anymore?

If you are of Tendulkar's stature, yes it is a big deal if you don't perform consistently.
He is probably played thousands of matches, lots of experience, he needs to know every trick and tips involved in the game and keep out thinking the opponents. He isn't doing that, he has lost the edge. he isn't working hard (Physically he might, but he is losing the mental battle).

can u tell any one single batsman in team india now performing all times??? i need only one name ??
Re: Re: Re: Re: Is Tendulkar wicket a Prized wicket anymore?

easy, look at the series average and see who has the best average so far. Extend it bit more, pull the series averages for last few series India has played.
As a most senior player not only in the team, perhaps the entire world, if you are not leading the averages chart or if you are not in Top 3, then there is seriously wrong.

Hello Suresh Kumar Babu,
I will reply to this one, for some reason there is no "Reply" button on the "Heart Beatening" thread.
We both are not on same page. I'm talking very specifically about Tendulkar's performance, but you are talking about the team's performance and bringing everyone into comparison. I will try to keep this simple. See forget about winning and losing. Tendulkar got so many chances, 29 or so, he can't get his 100. Neither he has produced any innings that is worthy of mentioning. He has not won any matches for last one year. He is the most experienced player in the world. The jist of my argument is he is not pulling his own weight.

There is a saying "Pick your horses based on the course".
In Indian cricket team this phrase doesn't work. Instead Indian cricket view is, we will not change horses or try new horses, but make all the course the same, we keep sending the same horses over and over again, it doesn't matter how tired the horses are or injured, we just to keep the same since the belief is they belief is they think the same horse brings the money. This isn't true, the people come for the course, this is the entertainment, not the horse.
Imagine a man who could not pass secondary school gifting BMWs, that,s sachin. If a bunch of idiots and scums like BCCI and the indian cricketers get so much money and adulation they are entitled to do so. we are the super idiots. we keep watching. now that indians are waking up, trp is dipping. good sign.

what a generous man u r?? before saying others u should look urself??? r u paying tax regularly??? are u a 100% goodone in this world??? even mahatma also have desires... even buddha also...
I think only in India and perhaps only in Cricket you can have a player stand up and say something like I'm not playing good, but I still manage to find a place in the team, since the people responsible for me to be in the team do not have guts to say anything to me.
Could you imagine would any other country allow such non sense in any sports?
It looks like our cricket team is being managed by clerks and office sectretaties, there does not seem to be any executives who have the guts to take bold decisions.

You call this as a shortcoming. He is getting out for peanuts in every single match and you call it short comings? Let me tell you this isn't called short coming. If he isn't able to play a short ball or can't score on off side or something, thats what is called as short coming, If he isn't able to score anything, he is not performing, period. He can't stand up and say I'm not performing and I need to improve. Great! You have figured it out, go back to your state team, work hard, improve and come back.

Indian selectors are sleeping Why sehwag is not being kicked out in spite of repeated failures. He should be sent back to India by the next flight.Manoj Tiwari is to be given chance.
Re: Re: Same Thing
by Savio Quadros on Feb 22, 2012 01:39 AM
the reason is he performs once in 15-20 odd matches and the selectors only watch these matches....Hockey is our national sport, we shoud b promoting it more than this money making racket called cricket...
Re: Same thing....

WHY is Sehwag STILL in the team after so many repeated failures??? if he was in Australian team he would have been kicked out long ago.Same is the case with Dravid&Laxman, they should be given One farewell Test to say Bye to all cricket fans. If Sachin continues to do badly in ODIs, he should be shown the door too like Ponting wasd kicked out of australian team. Hope indian selectors are listening to voices of millions of cricket fans now!
