ausy have multiple player who could take ponting place Do u find anyone in india benchstrength who could caim sachun place no one then where is comparison
is a great player undoubtedly. It's his call to quit ODI's or not. Personally i feel he should now quit from ODI's. Everyone is talking about sachin's retirement call now. A player of his class should retire before he is forced to be dropped.
REdiff is over rated and should retire from news business. Even after being in the business for so long it hasnt improved. Me thinks rediff shld retire. what do you say?

You decide, Who is best in Last 2 years ? Do you really feels, is sachin in the team by BCCI's mercy ? Do you really feels, is sachin in team because of his Past records? if yes, you are already late to reach a psychiatrist'

you got it wrong. he is talking abt recent performance i.e in last two years which makes sence. when the world is praising sachin what is the problem for us? if he is a foreing player we would have been praising him

Middle order and lower can't be compared with the openers till 3 down. The top five batsman have been the same for decades, except for Gambir. They are expected to perform not only in INDIA but abroad too. No disrespect for seniors but if one is not performing abroad then he has to go. No point scoring in India that which any new guy in Indian team will also do. But I am on my way to a psychiatrist anyway as the my answer is yes to your questions
the poor guy wants to finish his 50th ODI 100 and ( also complete 100 x 100) i hope he will leave after that from ODI. guys be patient till then. Let it cost India a couple of matches. Does it really matter , r we not used to it ???

It is better for Sachin,BCCI and particularly for Indian cricket fan that a series against Kenya or Zimbave be arranged in India with flat wickets so that Sachin could score his so called 100th 100 and retire gracefully.

then the risk is - people will ask - does age really matter , why he shud be removed since he just scored a century - then what shall we do ????

Same thing I remember Kapil Dev was going through to make 431 or so wickets to break Richard Haidlee record. He took too much time and kept hanging there and once he got the record broken then he retired. Now he is commenting on Sachin. It's irony that he forgot his episode. All these players play for their records and money.
Well it is not expected from Sachin to follow what Ponting did.Indian players, particularly players like Sachin want to encash their value at the maximum possible.BCCI has no guts to drop Sachin like Australian selectors did in case of Ponting.
The batsman, whose last 2 years' avg (Jan 2010 to Feb 2012) is higher than his entire career avg ?
or
The batsman, whose last 2 years' avg (Jan 2010 to Feb 2012) is less than his entire career avg ?
Any statistician will buy or keep the commodity when its short term avg is above its long term avg. And will drop the commodity when its short term avg is less than its long term avg.
Just have a Look. What a statistician will do with Ponting and Sachin.
Test
Name Match Runs HS Avg 100s
ponting 22 1650 221 43.42 3 ( A Century in every 7 Matches (14 Innings))
Sachin 26 2500 214 59.52 8 ( A Century in Every 3.5 Matches (7 Innings))
Ponting Test Career Avg: 53.04
Sachin Test Career Avg: 55.44
ODI
Name Match Runs HS Avg 100s
ponting 45 1393 106 33.97 2 ( A Century in every 23 Matches (23 Innings))
Sachin 18 807 200* 47.47 3 ( A Century in every 6 Matches (6 Innings))
Ponting ODI Career Avg: 42.03
Sachin ODI Career Avg: 44.83
Australian board had taken an inteligent move. Any board or statistician will take same move only. If sachin was playing for australia, they will not think about even resting him.
Dont go with age. Its a game where performance matters.

well said. But if you look at the long term prospects, Sachin is no longer an asset. He is a big liability.

Then drop or avoid taking new players, whose age is above 26 and fill players whose age is less than 20 or 21. We will have good Long Term run. And also our dhoni had a point. drop seniors to increase the fielding standards. So we can make new rule, compulsory retirement after 30. So we have high energetic and fresh youths to field. But no guarantee about how many overs they have to field to defend the score. (Score might be less than 150 )
Yaar live in present. Optimism is good but it will not work always.
